Probably not in crucial situations because Hawk-Eye uses cameras to track the ball. It removes some elements of the challenge system and replay element out of the game, which saves time and coach’s challenges.

However, any play in which the exact location of the ball is obscured by players or the camera angle will still be a problem.

A lot of people are using the Josh Allen play in the AFC Championship game where it looked like he gained a first down, but the exact location of the ball wasn’t clear on any of the replays. Hawk-Eye most likely wouldn’t have corrected the call.

sensor in the ball

This is the only thing that would make sense. The issue is with spotting the ball, not the measuring.

Yeah they’re solving a problem that doesn’t exist. This reeks of “modern solutions” for solutions sake. Spotting is the issue and that’s subjective to the refs. Sensors are the answer.
