I’d hire a white coach and claim he’s black. What are they gonna do to prove he’s not black?

Use common sense?

This is dumber than the All Star Game determining home field advantage for the World Series, and that’s the dumbest rule in the history American professional athletics.

Instead, start an Academy for former players to go into coaching and front office positions. Players learn about coaching and being an executives from teachers who have done it. Once they have passed whatever the amount of time is, teams MUST take on players as interns once they graduate, unless the former player gets a job or internship with a college program.

This. Give them a helping hand, not a handout. These guys worked their asses off to become players, they'll work their arse off to become coaches, too. Just don't be insulting.

They don't need help breaking into coaching. There's lots of minority coaches in those lower level roles now, they just get stuck at position coach.

If a team hires a minority head coach, that team, in the draft preceding the coach's second season, would move up six spots from where it is slotted to pick in the third round.

Hmmm? Sounds like racism to me.

This would give former players, most of whom will be minorities, foots in the door of all teams. Its up to them to prove themselves at that point.

This doesn’t guarantee the outcome. Don’t you know we need guaranteed outcomes not guaranteed opportunities?

Insane. You'd literally be telling the world that hiring African Americans is so disadvantageous it's worth the equivalent of an extra 4th round pick.

It’s such a slap in the face to everyone, primarily minorities. I don’t often agree with Bomani Jones, but I do on this. How would anybody feel if they were told, “yea, we were incentivized to hire you, not necessarily that you were the best for the job.” What kind of lack of confidence does that send to the employee?

Happens in work places all across America everyday.

So if a black guy buys a team, does he just get a Lombardi trophy as soon as the sale is final?

It’s equality of outcome. Not equality of opportunity.

How will they determine who is a person of color? Will there be a panel that determines someone’s authenticity?
