Woodson gets the benefit of the doubt because he was great in the league, but as a Heisman winner he's a sham.

Let's observe Cam Newton's first 2 seasons:
1) Took team from 2-14 to 6-10, then to 7-9.
2) Increased the offensive output a ton when compared to the season before he was there.
3) Set numerous records as a Rookie, also consider that the NFL "strike" was going on and he didn't get a normal off-season like most Rookies.
4) Has scored 62 touchdowns in his first two seasons.
5) Has passed for roughly 8,000 yards in his first two seasons.
6) Has rushed for roughly 1,500 yards in his first two seasons.
7) I don't even need to bring up what he did in college (even though that's half of what the players needed to be on the list). He dominated.
8) Ended last season on a tear. And so did his team.
So, where is all of this "one and done", "overrated" stuff coming from? How is that a "fact"?

An entire Cam Newton starting defense.
I wonder how much money Auburn would have paid him then?

The Carolina Panthers were a turd when he got there, and they've steadily improved with him at quarterback. They finished last year strong. It wouldn't surprise me to see them make the playoffs this year. Also keep in consideration: They finished 2-0 against the NO Saints, and 1-1 against the Atlanta Falcons (which should have been 2-0 had the safety not misjudged the ball, a la Rahim Moore).
Anyways, it's stupid to call a quarterback a "loser" so soon when he was drafted by such a shite team. Think about it, would you have considered Drew Brees a loser at San Diego when they went 5-11 (2001), 8-8 (2002), and 4-12 (2003)? I mean, they were 1-15 (in the year 2000) the year before he got there. It's almost the exact same scenario.

yeah, and the Bucs swept them last year, so there is that also.
the fact that the Panthers swept the Saints last year wasn't all about Newton. That second game Deangelo Williams ran for like 200 yards. That was the difference in that one.
The Panthers are a poorly run ball club though. I'm not sure they'll be able to put up the other necessary pieces together to help Cam out. They basically can't do shite in free agency because of some shitty money management. They couldn't last year and they haven't this year either.
don't get me wrong, I think he's done an okay job so far. But like I was saying and like you've kind of touched on, that team may be doomed because of their front office.

So quit arguing and start admitting Cam needs to be included with Tebow as undeserving...w/o qualifiers like "yet".
In other words, get off Cam's dick for once.

Cam Newton DEFINITELY belongs on this list.
Tim Tebow?
Barry Sanders!

quote:Are you retarded? If Cam Newton keeps up at the rate he's at, he will be on the list. He's not just some scrub playing quarterback in the NFL. That's why I included he's not on the list "yet".

quote:Of course not, but he's what makes that offense roll. We all remember how terrible they were with Derek Anderson and Jimmy Clausen leading the offense. They could truly be a dominant running team if they wanted to. Cam Newton, DeAngelo Williams, Johnathan Stewart, and Mike Tolbert could be damn near unstoppable. Sometimes I just think they try to get vertical too much, but why not when you have a quarterback with such a great arm and Steve Smith?

quote:I definitely don't disagree with this. They should've been out there trying to get another wide receiver or defensive stud. Instead, they did basically nothing and lost Chris Gamble.

They better try to grab Cordarrelle Patterson in the NFL Draft because Steve Smith is aging and Brandon LaFell isn't a true, #1 receiver. They need some more big-play threats to stay in games with the Atlanta Falcons and NO Saints.
