The stats are not close, so no not really.

I think you are severely underestimating the offense he is joining and is already familiar with as well. This is a homerun fit for a high end offense.

It's a 4-year deal for $16.005M per year. Wow.

4th highest paid in NFL history

And Von Bell is headed to Carolina. Bengals will need to replace both of their safeties

$16M for a run stopping safety is something.

Their numbers over the last 2-3 years are pretty similar. Garoppolo’s are slightly better but he was hurt more, he also had superior talent around him and and a superior offensive coach. It seems like a very lateral move, not sure if they freed up cap space by doing so. Raiders issue is their defense which is atrocious

Bates isn’t a run stopping safety. He’s a coverage safety. $16M is still rich for him though.

He was a really good player for us. 5 penalties in 4 years. 2020 he looked like an All-Pro but the last two years he’s “regressed” to just being a very good safety with flashes of all-pro play at times.

Gonna have to replace both safeties, who were the glue pieces to an otherwise shaky secondary

Per Adam schefter

Steelers gave former Vikings’ CB Patrick Peterson a two-year contract, per source. He wanted to play at least two more seasons, so contract matches his wishes.

NFLN showed since I think it was 2017. It was not close.

The Falcons can afford to do stuff like this with Pitts, London, and Ridder still cheap. They needed safety help badly too. They've made some nice moves today. Choosing Lindstrom over McGary should have been obvious but it was still nice to see them actually make the right call there.

Still a lot of holes on the roster, but today was a decent start.

They really aren't that different in that time period either. Carr has also played in like 40 more games since 2017.

Like I said, it wasn't overly close. But Carr always had good stats prior to this year being 27th, as I've said on many occasions here, he was always fringe top 10 range Jimmy G is just a bit higher over that span, 99 qb rating to 93.

I'm not buying Jimmy G as any sort of significant upgrade over Carr as far as individual talent, but I think the fit is good for both of them. I think they'll both play well.

Defense is gonna be the issue for both teams.

Jimmy is good when he can just game manage and coast on talent. He doesn’t have the ability to carry an offense. Mcdaniels will be back coaching the patriots offense in 2 years

Jimmy G is a decent sized upgrade from Carr and quite a bit less money which only makes it even better.

End of the day Carr is coming off a season where he was the 27th rated QB in a loaded offense and Jimmy G was 3rd.

Maybe Carr finds it again who knows, Wilson didn't.

I think it's the opposite of what you said tbh. Really good QB and stats say so.
