Derrick Henry missed 9 games in 2021 due to injury. In those 9 games, the Titans went 6-3 and averaged 140 rushing yards per game. Their production did not drop off one bit. Know why? Because their very good OL was healthy and they had the same running scheme.

Ahh we want to cherry pick I see so let’s tell the full story. With Henry they went 6-2 and scored 227 points. That’s 28.4 ppg. Without Henry they score 192 in 9 games which is 21.3 points. They’re with Henry average would have put them at 3 in the league in scoring that season. Without Henry they are 19th.

The year before when he had his 2k season they were 4th in the league in scoring. They lost their playoff game against the Ravens because the Ravens committed to stop Henry and the Titans offense was washed. The year before they won two road playoff games throwing under 100 yards. Why? Henry gave them 204 and 202 yards from scrimmage in those games. Chiefs held him to 61 yards on 21 touches and went on to win the Super Bowl.

quote:

Last year (2022 season), Kansas City made their Super Bowl run with 7th round pick Isiah Pacheco and Georgia Southern QB Jerick McKinnon splitting the load out of the backfield while 1st round pick CEH rode the bench.

Mahomes

quote:

In 2018, when the Rams made their Super Bowl run, they signed CJ Anderson off the street to replace an injured Todd Gurley and got the same level of production

Lol not even close dude. Their offense before Gurley’s injury and after are damn near night and day. Healthy Gurley in 2017 giving them 140 yards a game = #1 offense in the league scoring 30 ppg. Healthy Gurley in 2018 giving them 130 yards and a td and half a game = 33 ppg and the #2 scoring offense in the league. 2019 and 2020? 11th 24.5 then 22nd 23.3.

Look at the Panthers with healthy CMac and without. Look at the Niners before CMac and with him now. The two years before the Raiders had Josh Jacobs they averaged 18.1 then 18.8 ppg. Jacobs rookie year they went up to 19.6. They were in the 20s the next 3 years. Jacobs had the worst season of his career in 2023 and they slip back under 20.

quote:

LeVeon Bell is another example. He thought he was more responsible for his success than the Steelers' scheme and OL. He sat out an entire season, signed a huge deal with the Jets, and immediately sucked donkey dick. RBs cannot out-athlete front sevens in modern football. Front sevens have gotten too good.

Sure if you conveniently ignore that he didn’t play football for an entire year and went from having a top 5 offensive supporting cast to a bottom 3 one. The Jets have been booty for decades on offense. Btw, how did the Steelers do with Bell as opposed to without him? Hint: the only year their offense wasn’t arse was the year Ben threw 675 passes for 5100 yards.

quote:

RBs are a dime a dozen for the most part. Taking one before the 3rd round of the draft is a complete waste of a pick, and signing one to a second contract is a bad use of resources.

If you have Mahomes, Allen, or Lamar sure. If you don’t, you are going to need that bell cow or you better hope that your QB can effectively throw it 40 plus times a game.

Lavonte David re-signs with Tampa on a 1 year deal worth up to 10 million.

David led the team with 134 tackles and 17 tackles for a loss and had 4.5 sacks, a forced fumble and 5 pass breakups.

David, 34, was the only player in the NFL in 2023 with 100-plus tackles, 15-plus tackles for a loss and 3-plus sacks. David's 17 tackles for loss are the second most in a single season by a player age 33 or older since the stat was first tracked in 2008, behind only J.J. Watt's 18 in 2022. David's 1,035 solo tackles are the most of any player in the NFL since 2012 and 11th most since the NFL began tracking this metric in 1994. His 18 fumble recoveries are also the most in the NFL since 2012, while his 28 forced fumbles are fourth most.

We’ve seen guys like Henry and McCaffrey completely change their teams offensive fortunes and be the catalyst for their offenses.

CMac is really good in SF, but he didn't change their offense or team fortunes

RBs aren’t that important if you have one of the 2-3 best QBs in the league, but if you don’t, you better have one you can depend on.

You can find a dependable RB cheap, and late in most drafts.

Acquiring a RB today is like buying a German car. Lease when new and flip when the warranty is over in 3-4 years. The last thing you want to do is pay a lot of money for an "out of warranty" RB. A lot of teams who wasted money this offseason are going to be regretting that decision as early as October 2024

Burrow being made of glass doesn't help. And your head coach thinks it's cool to spread them all out and throw relentlessly. Burrow better keep his medical paid up.

The #Bengals just now agreed to terms on a two-year, $26 million deal with DT Sheldon Rankins, sources say. Another nice payday for the former first-round pick, who heads to Cincinnati to join Lou Anarumo’s defense after recording six sacks last season for the #Texans.

YESSS! That means DJ Reader is gone. Big downgrade, especially in run defense for the Bengals. Very happy with this move as a Chiefs fan. DJ Reader was a big part in the SB run for the Bengals a few years ago. Less big pieces around Burrow on either side of the ball, the better. Guess the Bengals couldn't afford to bring back DJ Reader, which makes sense. One of the best DT's in the game when healthy. Also, Sheldon Rankings and DJ Reader are the same age, so that is not a factor.

HE GONE! And probably headed to the NFC with the Lions, so the Chiefs wouldn't have to face him unless the Lions make the Super Bowl.

There is a reason why RBs have won MVPs and are regularly in the running for them while WRs have never won one and are rarely ever considered for them.

Is this where you are going to tell us you know more than the NFL about what’s valuable?

They’ve lost Bates and now Reader from that defense. They are lucky the kicker is still under contract.

The NFL is telling you what they think is more valuable based on the contracts signed at each position.

Adrian Peterson in 2012 was the last one to win it and no RB will win one for the foreseeable future. A WR will win an MVP before another RB will.

McCaffrey finished third this year. I’m willing to take you up on that bet.

You're referencing NFL trends from 20 years ago as your argument. I don't need to even comment.

Now that Atlanta has signed QB Kirk Cousins, Falcons QB Desmond Ridder is expected to be traded, per sources. The Falcons have been discussing a deal with other teams, but there is nothing in place yet.

Ridder does suck balls but Moore has been a disappointment. He's a undersized guy that's been very inexplosive. Even for a slot guy 8 ypc is low.
