Those fans had him in fantasy and liked his garbage time 80 yards rushing a game.

Career ender? No. Still significant and very often leads to worse play than prior? Absolutely.

I’d rather do that than take Caleb.

Correct. The NFL will determine if your Oline is elite or not by how often they call you for holding. The Chiefs have benefited from this favoritism. If you can tackle and get away with it, you don't need All Pros at every spot.

49ers are signing DE Leonard Floyd to a two year deal. He was fantastic with the Bills last year on his 1-year deal. He was also apart of that great defense that won SB 56 for the Rams.

actual NFL people say they should keep Fields and trade the 1st pick.

That was media talking heads getting worked by the Bears FO. Or they are idiots. Actually either way they are idiots

How many times did Burrow make it work with Chase and Higgins?

I mean he made it to the Super Bowl and AFC championship with literally no o line

On the back of their defense and special teams. Burrow had one top 5 season in 2021(due to having the second highest yac/pa in the league) but has been above average otherwise. Signing the deal he signed took away the no offensive line excuse (which hasn’t been valid since his rookie season anyways).

LSU fans are eventually going to have to stop making excuses for the guy and let his play stand on its own merits or lack thereof.

Falcons sign Charlie Woerner to boost TE rush blocking.

quote:

Woerner is here to block, bluntly. The Falcons may see some untapped pass catching upside in the Georgia product, but he has 11 receptions in four NFL seasons and isn’t going to be more than the seventh or eighth option in this passing attack. What Woerner does do well is pave the way for running backs and hold his own in pass protection, two roles the Falcons will prize because they have dynamic young running back talents in Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier and an aging, not super mobile quarterback in Kirk Cousins who needs time in the pocket to thrive. Woerner will be the team’s second tight end and will see the field a lot, judging by this deal, with an eye on helping the Falcons do great things on the ground and keep their passing attack humming.

Woerner essentially replaces Jonnu Smith as the team’s second tight end, but his role will be more akin to MyCole Pruitt, who was an occasionally useful red zone threat with his size and hands but primarily was on the field to pave the way for Robinson and Allgeier. Fellow former Georgia product John FitzPatrick figures to have an inside track to the third tight end role if he’s healthy, as he’s the only other tight end under contract the moment.

If Woerner can do that blocking work at a high level, he’ll be a fine signing for an offense that’s really starting to take shape. Atlanta now just needs to figure out their barren receiver depth chart and add a few more depth pieces and they should be good to go heading into 2024.

Trade! The #Panthers are trading star Brian Burns — at last! — to the #Giants, per me and @MikeGarafolo.

Burns lands a 5-year deal worth $150M max with $87.5M guaranteed, done by Todd France of @AthletesFirst.

Carolina sends Burns to NYG for a 2nd and 5th rounders. And Burns is the 2nd highest paid DE.

Robinson and Tyler Allegra (you know who I’m talking about) need to be getting at least 30 touches combined a game at bare minimum

The Panthers have traded McCaffrey, Moore, and Burns for a hotdog and a handshake. Tepper has owned that team a quarter of the time that Snyder has and has already outperformed Snyder in the shitty owner metrics.

The Giants are retarded. Even if Burns is worth that deal, they still need WRs, an RB and an OL. Poor Daniel Jones, potentially another season with Isaiah Hodgins and Darius Slayton as the top targets. Good thing they got an old washed up injury prone Darren Waller though.
Compare Hurts situation to Daniel Jones and it’s hilarious
Hurts: AJ Brown, Devonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, Saquon, best OL in football
Daniel Jones: no one even worth listing, worst OL in football

And they turned down two 1sts for Burns from the Rams at the trade deadline in 2022. Just a fricking nightmare ownership.

Screwing up that number 1 pick last season, then trading away the top pick in a loaded quarterback draft is going to hurt so much long term. I know it's early, but it doesn't look like there will be any QB in 2025 with the potential of Williams, Maye or Daniels.
