Tulane didn't draw any Cajun fans. Nobody cares about any in-state matchup.

As long as the Cajuns have a decent team, Tulane has always drawn out the Cajun fan.
We're one of the chief culprits in the Cajuns victimology.
That said, I get why the sales are sluggish. The cajuns weren't particularly good this year (the weakest team of the 4) and it's the same bowl 4 years in a row.

the 10am start time also has to do with them turning over the superdome for a saints game the next day at noon.

no way we could play at 6 and leave the dome at 10 or 11 that night and them have it ready for a saints game in just 12 hours.

I remember the last two years they gave ticket sales updates on the Lafayette news every night, wonder why they're not doing that this year??

because they arent as good as previous years.

this year to date we have sold a little over 11,000 through the school.

as a comparison, last year we sold 21,000 through the school.

11,000 isnt a terrible number for a mid major playing at 10 am, and with all the other ways to obtain tickets far cheaper than the 45.00 option through the school i can see why the number is down.

Wow it only took four pages for that very predictable response..... If you want to start a thread about ULM bowl tickets go ahead

A lot of my Cajun fan friends aren't going this time, they tell me that the LA Tech loss killed a lot of the energy the fans felt for this team and they haven't recovered

I think the expectations were insanely high this year. No matter how we finished, getting beat down by Tech was tough to swallow.

ULL brought respect to the bowl. I think this fourth repeat is boring. I don't blame them.

I read somewhere that the B1G is trying to eliminate "bowl fatigue" by shuffling their teams among the Florida bowls.

The CFP has also cheapened the bowls. I don't blame anyone who has to pay $100 for shitty seats when good ones are available. We need to eliminate about 70% of the bowls and make it meaningful once again.

Lafayette media is trying to sell New Orleans as "a place to take your family"..... A destination city!

No mention of crime in their reporting.

I guess they assume that most families won't go on crack hunts.

Not really. In 2012 there were almost 49,000 at an 11:00 game. We've only had 2 weeks to sell tickets this year compared with a month in 2012. We accepted the bid on November 24 in 2012 following the game with South Alabama.

The game is too close to Christmas for people to wait too long after Thanksgiving to make weekend trip plans in New Orleans.

2012 was y'all second bowl ever and you were playing an opponent that has a FAR better fanbase that also bought plenty of people to the game in East Carolina.

Now y'all are on your 4th in a row but you are also only in this game b/c Georgia Southern got fricked over by the NCAA and wasn't granted a waiver.

also, 11am vs 10am is a big difference even though its only an hour. 10am is just god awful for a football game.

It'd probably be helpful if you told him exactly why it's not true. Most people dont realize that the Nola bowl can take whatever Sunbelt team they want as long as the conference champion has a bowl to go to. This has come into play a few times since the Cajuns haven't ever won an outright conference title

I think lafayette is still in a lull since dustin poirier lost... or they came to the realization that even in their best years they cant win a conference title.

Personally, I've always thought their strong bowl attendance was an embarassment to the program. Having nearly double the attendance of a home game for your bowl game is an insult to their team. It'd be different if they were selling out every home game, but they are not. Its baffling how they are in the process of expanding their stadium. Instead of playing in 33% empty stadium they are on track to play in front of 66% emplty stadium with the expected expansion.
