Just read an article suggesting the possibility of a new Football only conference with UConn leaving the AAC. Could this be an option for the remaining FBS independents? Possibly get Navy to join? They are a football member only of the AAC.

BYU
UConn
UMass
Army
Liberty
New Mexico St
Navy*

Possibly a few FCS schools to move up and join?

Army isn’t in a conference. All of those schools are independent.

BYU isn’t leaving their independent status They won’t admit it, but the Boise deal is what made them leave in first place.

I wonder if Navy would consider joining it? They are a football only member of the AAC. Would help with their expenses I would assume. I don’t care what anybody says, the simple truth is that NOBODY is knocking on any of their doors to join their conference. They might as well join up and form their own Football only conference. Again, get a few possible FCS teams to move up? Wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world for these schools.

Army
Navy
BYU
UConn
UMass
Liberty
New Mexico St

NDST, EWU, James Madison and Sam Houston State could probably win this conference.

Army has gone back to back 10 wins seasons. Anyway, again, these schools are going to remain independent. Nobody wants to add them. They might as well form their own conference. Please provide an alternative.

probably false. The conferences that want to add them aren't what those schools want to be in

Army would have handled them easily. They were ranked and took Oklahoma to overtime

people are overvaluing Army off of this game. Their schedule and talent level are still shite, and a top 5 Oklahoma probably didn't take them seriously

I get that, but they were a legitimately good team last year. What they did to Houston in the bowl game was criminal.

Army and Navy are better off being independent in football. Notre Dame and a few others big programs will schedule them and they can also schedule games against the likes of Temple, Tulane, Rice, Vandy, Eastern Michigan, Rutgers, UConn and so on for games they are more likely to win and they get have their own tv deals for home games.

Ideally, they'd tell Notre Dame though that when they play in New Jersey or Maryland those are true home games for Army and Navy and not some BS neutral site.

That conference is awful. What network is even going to want to offer this new garbage conference a national TV deal? Especially since the only matchup that would ever have any national interest is Army-Navy and CBS has those TV rights locked up thru 2027.

Lol what’s the alternative? This is what I keep coming back to. These schools are ALL independents and aren’t getting ANY invitations to other conferences. Again, they might as well join forces and create a confernce for Football ONLY. What does being independent get them? If they could get Navy to join them, it would put be worth exploring. Agin, the alternative is that all these school just sit and remain independent.
