I wonder if cities like Atlanta and Dallas feel they have to do a bit more to attract all the initial events and money. It seems like they're well set up in building stadiums like this to ensure they get the Final 4, Super Bowl, etc. early, but who knows whether that draw will last.

This is a multi purpose stadium. It is designed to host every mainstream event possible. Also as Crimson said, open air stadiums are great until you are sweating, freezing or soaking your arse off. It is idealistic but any of us with a woman in our lives realize a retractable roof such as this is perfect.

The interior pretty much looks exactly like the U of Phoenix stadium except that God awful roof concept and shitty video halo thing.

So after this is built, will they start voting for a tax to build another one in 10 years to replace it?

Honestly, I think the retractable roof is a waste of money since it will rarely be opened. It does make it look nice though.

And an inside stadium is a must these days IMO. Like you said, it makes it multi-purpose and no one wants to sit outside in the south in september at 12.

This is my question. I'm sure it won't be 10 years, but 15-17-20?

Anyway, seems if you go this route that's what you're doing, but we haven't had a chance to really see how this stuff ages and how perception holds, so hard to say.

I think the fan's have a lot more to do with the atmosphere than the building itself.

Their fans were awesome, but that stadium is gorgeous and the design adds to their atmosphere.

The bay on 1 side and downtown on the other. It is honestly the coolest stadium I've ever been to. I think the location is key too. You can walk from Seattle and Nola to some great downtown destinations. Dallas is all the way out in Arlington

Agreed, that roof is going to stay closed for 1/2 of the football season. I'm sure they'll get a Wrestlemania as well, that'll be open air for sure if the weather is right.

It will be open in the spring for the MLS games.

That will look great at night. I had actually liked the one concept that looked like a huge greenhouse because of the ability to see the skyline. I didn't know they worked it into this design as well.

ETA: this one

How can they mock up concerts, basketball games, but not mock up a Wrestlemania in there?

Very disappoint.

will probably be safer to attend a game there than the superdome

I can only assume that you have never been to an Atlanta Falcons game at the Georgia Dome. I've been to college and pro games in Atlanta and New Orleans. For a Falcons game, the fear factor after dark is way worse than anything I've ever seen in New Orleans.

Where the hell were you walking that you felt unsafe? There's such a big crowd that you aren't just going to jumped going to any reasonable destination. If you make up your own shortcuts then maybe

Pretty cool but they lose alot of seating space with that weird arse endzone scheme.

Kinda reminds me of Autzen without the dome.

Yeah they werent trying to compete with Dallas in terms of the size. They were going for "experience' over mass size.

What? Where the hell were you going? I've been to a lot of games in ATL and I've never felt unsafe before or after a game.

It looks good. Does it have floor level suites like Dallas? Still think that is a really dumb idea.
