Did seeing JMU’s success, and to a lesser extent App State, Liberty, Coastal Carolina, and even Kennesaw St have people in Fargo feeling anxious? No reason NDSU shouldn’t be a top G5 team year in and out if those places are doing it considering most seasons NDSU are top 25ish in the combined Sagarin and Massey rankings.
I think with a jump to FBS, those schools have a recruiting edge. In FCS, North Dakota St could advertise a championship program. In FBS, they won’t be able to do that. At best, they squeak into the CFP and get blasted like JMU. Otherwise, their ceiling is an appearance in the Frisco Bowl.

Why
Money and boredom in FCS
100%
they have money to compete in that conference, and be a Boise st, with a 2 tmes a decade run at a playoff bid
and they have the booster cash to compete lots of millionaires in the dakhotas from that shale/oil industry

Let’s be real here…have you guys seen what the Mountain West is going to be like next year? Half of the league is going to the PAC 12 next year. NDSU could probably win that league next season in their first year. I mean UTEP, Wyoming, Nevada, San Jose State, New Mexico and UNLV? That’s a cake walk for them

There is a whole division between FCS and DIII. Why would they skip DII?
I thought the same thing when I read the post.
Then again, one of my undergraduate degrees is from Valdosta State. VSU has won four D-II football championships and had three more championship game appearances this century, but we never parlayed that success into anything.
Now, our conference is disintegrating around us. Due to two schools dropping football, one moving to another D-II conference, and two moving to FCS, we only have four football teams now. One of those four will likely move to FCS in the next few years. We may end up being independent and not able to fill a schedule.

North Dakota State needs a bigger outdoor stadium that seats 25,000 will room for expansion. I’m pretty sure they play in an indoor stadium that might seat 10,000 and I know it gets cold up there.

In other words you’re scared of competition and don’t like to be challenged.

Winning national championships at the FCS level has got to be way more fun than being a 9-3 team in the Big12
A 9-3 Big 12 team is going to have way more national TV opportunities and talked about on College Gameday more than a national championship FCS team.

No shite, but they’re going to be 7-5 in the depleted Mountain West
