That dude suggested private equity run college sports

Would be ok with the NCAA going away, but these colleges would probably replace it with something awful.

I don’t see how this applies to the current NIL structure. The money is “not supposed” to come directly from the schools but from outside entities that pay to use your NIL. I can’t file a suit to get paid for a job I didn’t do.

They had plenty of chances to address this issue. NCAA has only themselves to blame. Buried their head in the sand, then when the house of cards some down.. it comes down fast

Probably the same thing.

No the dude didn’t. I suggested getting this farce out of universities if these “athletes” want to be paid. Leave universities to people that actually want to learn and let these selfish brats, ADs and coaches let the NFL and NBA billionaires pay for their own minor leagues.
The fact that this is what it has come to is just an utter joke, but idiots that don’t actually care about the purpose of a college/university other than sports seem to be the people these morons are targeting.

As is typical, both the Athletics Departments/NCAA and the selfish athletes are going to ruin a once great system.
And the fans are selfish in that they would rather their school sign a 5 star player from across the country who can barely spell his name and only cares about the NFL over a 4 star in-state prospect with a 4.0 GPA if it means the difference in winning a conference or national championship vs. just having a good season.
The fans are why coaches are signing nine figure contracts to coach athletes who shouldn't be in college to begin with.

I would suggest that this business model has reached its soon-to-be demise. These Universities are incapable of conducting their business as a united front and have instead taken turns blowing each other's conferences out of the water.
Superconferences would bridge the gap between TV money and NIL for whoever is left standing. Somewhere there has to be a business model that resembles pro sports.

It is basically the NFL associated with colleges instead of cities now. In the near future they will start waiving grades and then actually attending the university.

The Universities are essentially the NCAA. If the NCAA goes BK would that not affect all the schools in some way? Would they be able to wash their hands of one business model and go the next day and form another business model? I look at it like this, The NCAA took out a loan from a bank and all the universities co signed that loan. IF the NCAA goes BK than the universities are still on the hook to the bank for said loan.

I don't know how that explains what FSU and Clemson are trying to do in the ACC. Some Universities want to go with them and some have their fist raised and are screaming insults at them.

I haven't read this but if I recall you're a practicing attorney. Have you read this?
How are they backpaying athletes? What is the plan with that? How are they deciding who gets what pay prior to NIL?
I read a couple articles but it didn't go too deep into the meat of what's going on

That is a league thing within the ACC which this other is the NCAA as a body.

There has always been a greedy party or two involved
If somebody wasn’t getting fat and happy at any point in time then this particular entertainment business would not have existed

So? It's all about TV/NIL money and University loyalty is nonexistent.

FSU wants to break away from ACC and go elsewhere right? They want to allign with a new super power when that happens. So I guess in the long run it is about staying viable which has to do with money.

How do you think they built 100k seats in Tiger Stadium?

Congratulations yall just screwed about 50+ schools from enjoying sports.
They probably weren’t enjoying them that much anyways… no one in a big conference with that kind of revenue is in any danger
