The NCAA has added another bowl game in Texas to allow all current bowl-eligible teams a chance to play in the postseason, sources told The Action Network.

The game will be played between a pair of Group of Five teams, sources said. The Football Oversight Committee approved the additional bowl game Thursday afternoon.

There are currently 84 bowl-eligible teams. Initially, multiple media outlets, including The Action Network, did not consider Hawaii (6-7) as a bowl-eligible team. However, according to the NCAA, teams that reach six wins are bowl eligible.

We seriously need to start having a conversation about lowering the number of bowl games. They should be a reward for a good season, not a participation trophy. Cue the "muh more football is good football" crowd.

No we don’t

It’s exhibition football that’s usually fun. It gives players extra practice to develop for the next season. Let every team go to a bowl game, I don’t care.

I agree. Lower the bowls for Power 5 teams. Unfair advantage, they should need 8 wins for bowl eligibility

How can anyone be bothered by this? I wouldn't care if they LOWERED the standards. I'd rather watch shitty football in mid-December than curling prelims.

Same, especially after last year when Covid robbed us of a normal season and several bowl games were outright canceled.

Not to mention the news this week of the MLB lockout and the prospect of legitimately not having professional baseball in 2022.

Given how shitty 2020 was, I'm on the side of more sports, especially more football.

for you folks who want only 8-win teams in bowls, there is a simple solution -- don't watch;
