100k still has a real world value that people making any amount can understand. So it’s not a fair comparison.

Any time something is posted here, the first reaction is to take a negative spin on it. People bitch about these games not being competitive and then bitch when the league tries to make it more competitive.

They did the all-star draft, they added more money for the winning team...I applaud both moves.

Am I the only one who actually likes the NBA all star game? I get the pro bowl hate but look forward to the NBA all star game every year.

went with my brother last year since it was in new orleans.

Really was fun to watch the dunks, acrobatics, and amazing passing. Always fun to watch big men do guard things.

That's what I kind of wish Pro bowl was more of, trick play for antonio brown to keenan allen is more enjoyable than QB dropping back. We watch that ALL the time.

Yeah it's not like it's something they're not good at. I bet they want their team to get the extra 100k instead of the other team. They're professional basketball players. Maybe that's the difference in whether they're splurging on a sports car this year. Maybe their wife is bitching about that rookie contract engagement ring they got and they want an upgrade. You don't suddenly stop being motivated by money as soon as you get rich.

Yes it's not a lot of money compared to what they make in the NBA, but 100k will definitely make them care more. Not -NBA finals- more, but they will. A lot of these guys still see this as 100k like rest of us.

Even the wealthiest people in world know the difference between 0 and 100k

What they should do is let each teams make bets with each other

I’m sure you would, but you wouldn’t play it if as hard if your going rate was $1,220 a game

$100,000 / 82 games = $1,219.52

I know people will complain about this. However, I don't really know what else the league can do. I actually think this is about the best idea they can come up with! I mean, look, they can't have a game like last year where the score was 192-182! That's fun for about the first 10-15 minutes and then it just gets absolutely dumb watching guy after guy throw down dunks. At least this might motivate some of those guys to try a little! I guarantee you if the NBA will encourage teams to put some incentives in future contracts with players getting bonuses if they win the all-star game you will see a lot of them take it serious! I don't need a full-game of it being game 7 of the NBA finals, but there has to be a middle ground between 192-182 and game 7. At least this is something in the right direction.

Most of the players make more than that every single regular season game

I like there being no defense in the all star game. It’s like watching Ruker Park
