NBA bans doubles ping pong in the bubble.

Woj:

quote:

My favorite detail in the 113-page health-and-safety protocol for Orlando shared with teams in past several minutes: No doubles in ping pong. "Until directed otherwise by the NBA, players should play singles only so that they can maintain six feet of distance from each other."

Shouldn't the whole bubble concept not make that a concern? And aren't they playing 5 on 5 basketball anyway?

I would have epic melts on my partner if I played doubles ping pong.

All of these rules and guidelines put in place due to corona are laughable. There is no rhyme or reason to any of it. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills every single day of 2020. I can go grab a beer at a bar with 100 people with no mask now in phase 2 but I still have to wear a mask if I grab a coffee? This is Virginia.

But wait, there’s more:

quote:

The NBA health protocols concede maintaining 6 feet of distance during card games "may not be practicable," and require anyone playing cards indoors wear masks. Players/staff must dispose of the deck at the end of each game/session. "Sufficient packs of cards will be available."

I'm going to assume there is probably a rule about high fives. I know some of the soccer leagues don't want their players to high five as well. This has made no sense to me at all. These athletes are literally colliding with each other for the entire course of the game, but we are going to pretend that outlawing high fives makes any difference.

I understand a lot of these rules are put in place for image purposes, but that makes it worse to me. You aren't putting together a plan to keep everyone safe. You are putting together a plan to maximize the appearance that you are trying to keep everyone safe.

The NBA is the most laughably gimmicky organization I’ve ever seen.
