Report: Thunder eyeing Westbrook trade, Celtics most likely partner
By Ananth Pandian 12m ago • 1 min read

With Kevin Durant walking away from Oklahoma City to join the Golden State Warriors, the most pressing issue facing the Thunder is what to do with Russell Westbrook, who will be a free agent in the summer of 2017.
Westbrook could likely leave just like Durant, which means the Thunder would not get anything in return for yet another one of their superstars. He could, of course, choose to re-sign in Oklahoma City but so far Westbrook has not made his intentions to stay or go very clear.
With such uncertainty, trading Westbrook now seems like the most likely decision by the Thunder. According to Bleacher Report's Howard Beck, rival GMs believe the Thunder will trade Westbrook and one likely destination for the All-Star guard is the Boston Celtics:
What I'm hearing here in Las Vegas from some GMs is that, not only do they think that Westbrook will get traded, that it will be sooner than later -- probably before the season starts -- and that the most likely destination right now would be the Boston Celtics.

I just don't know why you do that if you're Boston unless A.) you feel confident you can get an extension from him or B.) you think Westbrook is that missing piece for a title in that one year you have him

You have two more lottery selections coming in the next two years on a team that has a lot of young talent. I'm just not a fan of the one-year rentals

OKC gets

Boston / NY Swap pick 17'
NJ Pick 18
Jae Crowder
nik stauskas
Minnisota 17' second round pick (owned by C's)

PHIL Gets

Avery Bradley
Guerschon Yabusele
R. J. Hunter
Cav's 17 2nd round pick (Owned by C's)
Clippers 17 2nd round pick (owned by C's)

Boston Gets

Russell WestBrook
Enes Kanter

I would do this if i were the C's

I would put Russell at the 2 next to IT that's IMHO is his natural position. You still have Smart you still have Brown and now you have a front court with Horford, Kanter whoever else is left lol. I would try to get the 76ers to throw in Noel but that would not be a deal breaker

76ers get a legit point guard that plays first team all nba defense, a legit outside shooter in hunter and a stretch 4 in the big french black dude.

OKC has a point guard in payne and don't need IT back and Vic O plays point as well. They get 2 really high draft picks plus their own which if they trade westbrook is gonna be in the top 5 as well.

They should be confident enough in the organization and Stevens that resigning Russ would be a likelihood given a year of recruiting him. Otherwise Ainge is just going to sit on these assets long enough for them to die on the vine waiting for the perfect deal.

The Los Angeles Clippers are making a move to get Russell Westbrook and rumors are swirling that it will be in a three-team trade that would move Chris Paul to the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Oklahoma City Thunder getting Kyrie Irving in return.

Westbrook always wanted to join the home exodus in the NBA and play for his hometown Los Angeles. The Clippers could offer that scenario but they will have to give up one of their superstars in Chris Paul.

Before the playoffs I'd do that trade. Kyrie grew up a lot in the past couple of months. I don't think I give him up for Paul anymore. Plus he's still 2-3 years away from his prime.

Isnt it Lord LeBrons wish to play with Paul?

Clips might move Griffin to Boston is the other rumor

I guess. Just doesn't make a lot of sense at this point.

Don't see why he'd team up with Kyrie only to dump him a couple of years later, right after you won a championship with him.

Yeah agreed, that wouldn't make sense for Cleveland in the long term.

I think Kyrie is a better fit with Lebron anyway. Lebron needs the ball and Kyrie plays much better off the ball.

Not to mention the fact that Kyrie is like 10 years younger. That would be a pretty bad trade for the Cavs long term. Short term, it doesn't make them much better if better at all.

Good for TJ that's one of the few rosters in the league that he could maybe get some PT. He's gonna need to be better than he was last season though.
