not being proactive is why the thunder just lost KD for nothing.
How has OKC not been proactive? They've been trying to keep him...which is what you do with HoF. You don't just wave the flag and surrender to "bigger markets" in this day and age.
According to last week, he was 90% sure he was returning to OKC.
They traded an All Defensive player who was becoming redundant...in order to have more perimeter D and young talent.
In fact OKC has always been making moves to adjust around him and Westbrook.
They made a coaching change and presumably an upgrade in leadership.
They had a few seasons derailed by injury.
This year they should have won the West.
They went to the WCF multiple times..it's not like East where one or two guys get you there.
They've had quality role players surrounding him for years.
It just didn't work out.
Save for the Harden deal deal (which he might have left for nothing and they got Adams in return)and Green-Perkins swap, OKC has done a very good job putting together a team around for about a decade.

I do...but this notion this narrative that OKC has just been terribly run and hard to win there is false.
They have, for the most part, been one of the best run organizations for the last decade.
Presti is consider a top notch GM.
Timing and placement if everything...look at the Heat right now with Bosh's cap hit hanging over them.

OKC has been a legit contender since 2012 thanks to their infrastructure. Really just been one move/player away the whole time. Or just shite luck.

Great on paper,
Ya think?
Where is the guy guarding KD gonna get help from? Who the hell are you going to open up to double team?

Most teams aren't so equipped.

GS is still going to be in trouble at the rim on the defensive end. LeBron will still obliterate this GS defense. TT will still murder them on the glass.
