The reasons are:

1. Loyalty - to his guys, to his boys
2. Competition - super teams spit in the spirit of competition and cheapen the value of winning

It's admirable that Harden won't sell out his boys for the easiest shot at a title by making a super team.

Update on Gordon Hayward’s recovery for those interested:

Won’t Be Long Now
quote:

As most of you probably know, I recently had surgery to remove the plate and screws that were put in my ankle after I broke it in the opener. It’s not something we were expecting to be a part of this recovery process, but I’m happy to report that I’ll be back out there resuming rehab soon, with my sights set firmly on being back to my usual self for the start of next season.

quote:

So we got on a conference call with Dr. Porter, and the doctors and staff in Boston, and collectively decided that we should take the hardware out of my ankle. The next night I was in surgery. Dr. Porter went in and took out everything that they had put in my ankle. There were two incisions made to take all the stuff out. They took the plate, the screws and the tightrope that was in there. So now, I basically have a normal ankle—just there are some holes in the bone where they had to put the screws in, and those are going to heal up.

quote:

They said the surgery went really well, and now I just have to let the incision (and my soft tissue in the places where they went in) recover properly. But that is a really easy recovery. And in probably four to six weeks I will be right back to the point where I was before I got the surgery, except for I won’t have that same pain.

quote:

But I’ve been out of the boot for about two weeks now though. So I’m excited to get back to it. I think at the recovery pace I’m currently on, I’ll probably start running again in July. Once I get started, I’ll be jogging, then running, and then cutting and moving, and all that could happen within one to two weeks of each other, to where by the end of July I am playing full court, five-on-five basketball. And that’s probably the most exciting thing I could tell all of you.

if anyone wants to bring up a time I was wrong, I can bring up 100s of times I was right...So what's the point in calling B out? You not gonna come out ahead. YOu wasting your time.

Lebrons and Durants titles are BOTH discounted from how they would have been revered had durant won one in OKC or lebron won one his first go in CLE bc both guys had to leave and make a super team to get their title. GSW won the title this year and it was like "Who cares?"..it's NBD. that's what you get with a super team, the title don't mean nearly as much as it does when you win a title without having to go that route.

What you don't realize is that in 20 years no one will give a damn how the titles were won these past few years. This is the new normal. The league will never go back to one star player winning a title. Never. Even two winning will be rare going forward. Three will be the standard, which is actually more like the old days of the Celtics and Lakers.

says who?

wrong, it's a fad. TWO Guys went that route, Lebron and kevin. that doesn't make it the new normal. Espcially when you have guys like Harden who don't want Lebron, Don MItchell who said he would rather beat Lebron than team up with him, Dame Lillard who says he would rather not win a title than leave and make a super team. There are LOTS of guys who would prefer to compete over going the easy route and making a SUPER team. The spirit of competition will win out, I have faith. The Super Team titles will be looked back on as moves by a couple guys who were looking for the easiest route ie NOT looked upon favourably.

Player mobility just really became a thing. That's why you're just now seeing it happen more and more.

There's always guys that speak tough. Usually it's guys that weren't as heralded as the true stars and they're content to simply make money and establish their own brand. They don't win titles because they don't have what it takes.

True competitors would kill for a championship. Charles Barkley back in the day said what Lillard and Mitchell are saying now back. And he didn't win. Other guys that don't have that same debilitating pride win the titles.

Add Doris Burke for harden.
Will Guillory (Pels guy) for harden.

Looking like a 85ish% first place vote pace.

From 4/11.

Search Bs name + the number 85 and you will see that number 5x.

Well that and he’s rather take his shot with his podna then to sell them out and trade them to Cleveland Ohio for a super team. The title means more when you celebrate it with your boys Than win it is win via super team and becomes ‘lebrons title’
