I don't understand why the Lakers would add more to their package for Kawhi now they have LeBron. The Spurs are the ones who face more pressure over time and the Lakers have incentive to keep money clear for the 2019 FA class.

Kawhi has a bad relationship with the Spurs and it probably isn't getting better. Pressure will build on them not to just let him walk for nothing. Why would the Lakers panic when they just signed LeBron for 4 years.

They shouldn't. They should wait until training camp opens and then see how much the Spurs are sweating this.

The only thing that would give them pause is what happened in the Paul George situation. George did basically the same thing that Kawhi is doing (demanding a trade to the Lakers). The Lakers decided that they could just sign him in the offseason and not give up any assets, and they didn't even end up getting a meeting with him this offseason.

George was supposed to be a done deal to the Lakers so they didn't trade for him. Same thing could easily happen. These guys aren't dead set on going to the Lakers, they're saying that to gain leverage.

I agree. If Lebron signed a 1 + 1 then yeah, you make whatever move you can to make this work. But it seems that Lebron is actually willing to be patient and give Magic his trust to build something.

If someone had told me a year ago that Lebron would sign with the Lakers for 3 years and come alone while PG stays in OKC, you would have never ever made me believe that.

Not NBA, but did y'all see the fight at this FIBA tourney? It's wild. Looked like somebody went into the stands at the end.

Well slightly NBA since Thon Maker was in the middle of it and Delly was somewhere in there

Yeah, that's a legit concern, but I don't know why that makes the Lakers add to their offer now. The Sixers are centering an offer on Covington and Saric, the Celtics aren't including Irving, Brown, Hayward or Tatum.

The Lakers offering a package centered on Kuzma, Randle, Deng and picks and driving a hard bargain to consider more isn't out of step with the market.

The bigger thing is they have no motivation to deal now unless they think the Sixers or Celts are close, which it doesn't seem like. The longer this goes, the less power the Spurs have.

Idk if I'd want to be calling myself a solider in that sense after the path the first Cleveland-ite that referred to himself as that has gone down recently

There are players in the east that aren't on that list that are better than some players on that list.

Kyrie Irving just also has Curry, Westbrook, and Harden vying guard spots.

For back up guards

quote:

Shabazz Napier

- 86th %ile perimeter defense
- 98th %ile catching & shooting
- 72nd %ile playmaking grade

How you use him:
- 94th %ile off screen shooter
- 76th %ile spot up scorer
- 66th %ile PnR scorer

He'd fit so well with Lonzo, helps the D, and can play on & off ball

quote:

Tyreke Evans

- 84th %ile perimeter D
- 81st %ile catching & shooting
- 96th %ile playmaking grade

How you use him:
- 98th %ile off screen shooter
- 74th %ile spot up scorer
- 86th %ile PnR scorer

Very similar to Napier. Both should be top targets for teams needing PG depth.

Yeah upon reflection I’m not really too thrilled with the Lance signing. Seems like there were better shooting wings to be had for that price.

Oh well. I’m sure Lebron signed off on it so whatever
