I’m really surprised at the lack of a market for Rande. Thank god Dallas had to use cap space to sign DAJ

I was listening to the locked on laker podcast and they made an interesting comment about how it may not be totally surprising that the Randle market has developed this way

The Lakers have so much space in a summer where so few teams have it. Like there are 20 dudes for 10 spots and the numbers game went against Randle

Hopefully we get him in and they are able to rebuild that relationship

There's no cap space. Summer 2016 is still fricking teams up. Rockets might benefit with Capela as well. I'm not sure who offers Capela the max.

True but I still expected some team to make a stupid offer to Randle based on how good he was the 2nd half of last year. Dallas not being able to trade for Jordan and dump the Matthews contract really saved LA’s arse imo.

If the Lakers can lock down Julius for $10-$12 million per year (which is much less than people were projecting), he could be a major asset going forward

Come on T Capela was never getting the MAX. There is only a couple teams who have even 20 million in free space. I wouldn't be surprised if Capela doesn't even sign an offer sheet and return to CC on a deal at 15-18 mil/year.

Damn. Maybe Ariza wanted to live on the west coast but Philly could have fit both JJ and Ariza.

In most years I'd expect the same. Guys like Randle and Capela are quintessential big money risks by middle of the road or lottery level teams, but 2016 summer assured that's difficult.

Noticed how fast a lot of guys signed this year? Decent players were getting left out in the cold last year, agents didnt want that again.

I understand the temptation to deal now. Leonard is a franchise-changing player himself, and his presence would instantly close the gap with the Warriors. But if L.A. plays its cards perfectly and resists unloading Ingram or Ball in a deal for Leonard now, the team could end up with a core of LeBron, Kawhi, Ingram, and Ball next summer, with secondary pieces like Kyle Kuzma and veteran free agents riding the coattails of a LeBron-led team. Dealing for Leonard makes perfect sense to maximize their years with James, but not if it’s a total overpay. If the Lakers take a power-play route, they can give LeBron something he has never had in his career: a contender that’s built to last.

But they can outright sign Leonard to a max contract next summer instead. It’s worth being patient, especially when they’ll have backup options like Klay Thompson and possibly Jimmy Butler—or still retain the assets to trade for other stars that could become available, like Anthony Davis.

I really hope the Lakers take this route. Trade away nothing and go into next year with a full max slot available with a much better free agency class

I'm not saying he was worth the max but a lot of guys in his position can get paid by teams with room to take a risk. Remember Parsons? Wasn't worth the max either but he still got it from Dallas who had money to throw around. Problem is no one has that kind of money to throw around anymore.

I think for some reason that Ingram will be a really really good player in the next 2 years. He just has a calm demeanor and seems to have good work ethic.

Yeah I would do everything I can to hold on to Ingram if I’m LA/try as hard as I can to get him if I’m SA. I think he’s going to be very very good

Clint is so dependent on elite playmaking(and the coach D offense that spreads the floor) for him to be effective on offense just like Deandre was in lob city. If you are a GM you know you don't have a james hardwn and a chris paul out there it would be a big mistake to throw a bunch of money at Clint imo. He's a system player. Great great role player for what he does in Houston, but not even close to the same level of effectiveness pretty much anywheres else.
