Has anyone else lost total interest in the NBA? I was never an avid watcher but for sure occasional to moderate. It’s not just one thing specifically that turned me away but I guess just the league as a whole. I did not watch one “bubble game” last year and have not watched a game this year. And I know they could care less about my viewership, I was just wondering what the general consensus was in regards to now versus years past. (Different eras)

Haven't intentionally watched the NBA since the 2000s, and I don't care if other people do or not which is why I very very rarely bother clocking on NBA threads or news articles about it. The entire time the hornets/pels have been here I've gone to one game, and it was because the ol lady got the tickets as a gift and brought me along. I don't bash people that love it like how they'll bash me for being a hockey nerd - to each their own - I'd rather watch players crushing each other trying to score a goal instead of refs calling fouls for hand slaps.

I was a die hard NBA fan growing up in the 90s. When The Lakers traded Shaq to Miami and the boring Spurs started winning titles I started losing interest. Once the players I grew up watching started retiring, I lost more interest. Now, for the last few years I watch Sports Center to see all the highlights. I haven’t had any interest watching a full game.

I was like that with baseball growing up in the steroid era seeing all the home runs. I was a big card collector in the 90s and it was fun. Once the players I grew up with started retiring, I haven’t been into MLB either. College football, the NFL, and LSU basketball/some college basketball are the only ones I can watch.

Another thing as a kid when it came to the NBA, I took every game of my favorite teams so serious, I was bummed out when they would lose a game. The older I got, I realized players would not played hard every game and then you have this era of players sitting out to rest.

Interesting take, the players do have so much more leverage in NBA than other professional sports leagues. But also a bigger footprint from an international perspective. Personally I don’t like anything about it and it’s not the style of play shift to guard/wing three point dominated style of play. Last game I went to see is the late Kobe. His career did span the gap between the “good ole days” to “modern era ball” in my opinion.

I think they need a new superstar. LeBron fatigue is clearly happening and the best young player, Luka, is European.

They need another stud American to come in and take over the league. It was immensely popular with steph came on the scene.

My peak interest was mid 90s...MJ, Shaq/Penny, That fun Suns team, Bulls vs Knicks, Reggie Miller running around to catch and shoot. I knew all the players on each NBA Jam team. I couldn’t name a player from Sacramento, Indiana, Orlando, or San Antonio now if you offered me $500.

I used to watch the NBA frequently until the dawn of super teams. Now I don’t think you could pay me to sit down and watch a full game. If the Pels ever got good maybe I would watch more but for now I don’t watch.

The Celtics with Bird, McHale, Parish or the Bulls with Jordan and Pippen or the Showtime Lakers were definitely not super teams

Well for one, I was too young to care about the NBA or wasn’t around for those 80s teams, and also those teams were built organically while today’s super teams are composed of players jumping ship to join forces.

Were LeBron and Chris Bosh drafted by the Heat when they signed there as free agents? Did the Lakers draft Anthony Davis for LeBron or trade for him?

Yeah exactly.

Used to watch every game until it became a glorified YMCA pickup. Unwatchable. Dribble dribble, three. Foul. Review. Flop. Rinse and repeat
