I've got a feeling this free agency is about to pop off in a big way over the next 2-3 days. It's gonna be interesting to see what teams panic and try to acquire pieces well above market value. Maybe some team will try to trade for Eric Gordon.

I don't get this account. A lot of national writers follow this guy, but their website hasn't been updated in a year

There's a lot of factors:

Salary cap going up by 3-4 mil a year

Market(Meeks getting 6 mil is odd at first but not terrible for basically 2 mil over MLE) Frye has been productive in the past and if he's healthy should come close but I concede it's a bit of an overpay. There's also big men=money thing.

NBA teams are actually making money with the new CBA and are willing to spend a bit more.

The last NBA lockout was a perfect storm of the miami fiasco and half the league bleeding money. That's not really the case right now.

Obviously could happen but I don't see it.

If anything the players will opt out in 2017, before the owners.

As part of Thunder's continuing pursuit of Pau Gasol, I'm told OKC coach Scotty Brooks met today with Gasol to add his pitch to the pile

@ESPNSteinLine
ESPN reported last week that Gasol was directly pitched on the Thunder's merits by Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook

Competition for Pau, though, remains stacked. You've got Thunder/Spurs/Bulls still chasing PLUS Knicks or Lakers depending on who gets Melo

NBAPA already warned the players to try to make extra money because they expecting a lockout within the next 2 or 3 years

@Probballdraft: I'm told the Cavs primary focus upon signing LeBron would be to acquire more shooters. Ray Allen would be a target.

Yeah, Ray Allen's already on record as saying he will follow Lebron to the depths of hell.

People around league think Love could be in play again. Maybe as a backup if Bosh doesn't go to Houston. Could involve Parsons in a S&T.

G St. is out on Love, but if Bosh does go to HOU, and Melo is in NY/LA could mean CHI gets back in on Love. Parsons $# guess $12-14mil per

From listening to Woj on the radio a week or so ago he seems to think that Love will be in Minnesota no matter what at the start of the season.

He said Flip feels that as things get closer to the trade deadline that a better deal will appear that is less one-sided. Plus he also said Flip and their FO has the belief they can convince him to stay.

Now if for example that pick the Pels gave to Houston starts to look like it will be a lottery pick a deal involving those two teams becomes more appealing.

Addendum to earlier Pistons intel: they're not eager to part ways with Josh Smith as has been indicated. Value him and not eager to dump.

If they believe that, I mean TRULY believe that, then I hope they don't move him and he exits stage left after this season with Minny getting absolutely nothing in return. Such a high degree of idiocy should never be rewarded with anything but disappointment.

He also said they think they have a playoff team there...
