Not unwarranted. Player salaries are tied to BRI. 50/50 split, if the players are getting more, so are the owners. Teams are expecting the cap to go up at least $10M over the next few years after 3 years of stagnation. If you increase the cap, the numbers come out roughly to the same % of cap space.
That said, I could easily see the owners locking out again. But they won't have as much of a case after Ballmer, after the Bucks and Kings got .5 billion, after a massive new tv deal. Will be hard to cry losses at that point

Again I understand the salary cap increases and such (I posted an article about on here a few days ago). I'm just saying there have been some BAD contracts so far.

Nah that was just financial advice in case.
It's precaution.

If the public is on the owner's side again because Jodie Meeks got 7M instead of 4M while the Clippers go for 2 billion, I swear to god...

Just relaying what I have seen on twitter post like half of these contracts being announced

This
They should be looking to get rid of him now. Because come February when they are at the bottom of the NBA again, they are going to get worse offers than they are now because teams will know he is going to walk anyway

I dunno. I havent seen any Calvin Booth head scratchers yet. Some questionable moves, but I dont think Frye or Bradley are outrageous. I'm probably forgetting some, but Collison is the worst deal I can recall.
Edit: Meeks is fairly ridiculous. But Detroit cant shoot, has tons of cap space, and SVG helped turn Redick into.a solid 2 way player

Meeks
Ben Gordon
Gortat

I didn't think the Collison deal was too bad
ETA: the 5 year part of Gortat's is the worst to me

5 mil for him isn't even that absurd.

One year for 4.5 isn't bad at all. If he shows he can still play, you flip him to a contender for asset. If not, you just void the unguaranteed 2nd year.

The $$ is fine. The years are stupid. I feel like Washington shouldn't be included in this discussion. Cant wait for Ariza to get 4/$46

Whatever it takes to keep yourself in playoff contention.

Its more about choosing Collison over Thomas. That is just crazy to me. Giving Collison 3/15 to run your offense over IT is nuts.

About 2 mil more than he's worth. He would've likely gotten the MLE.

2nd year isn't guarunteed IIRC. Magic aren't going anywhere this year and could move him as an expiring?

Overpaid by about 2 mil imo
Been a 15/10 guy per 36 his whole career with 56% FG.

And considering their offer to Thomas is apparently laughably low

They're gonna ditch IT though possibly(who the frick knows with sac)
Could be a good sixth man

I don't really get that either, but I think Collison got a fair deal.

Yeah. I get the holdups about his size, but dude puts up 20+ and 6 given minutes on solid %s. He's a player.

Couple players I talked to think NY for Melo (just gut). "West too tough." "Kobe's aging." "Don't think Rose is on board." $$ and Phil sold.

Collison had a couple nice games in the playoffs and is cashing in. Good for him.
Yet he couldnt cut it in Indy or Dallas as a starter. Not sure why it will work in Sacramento.
