I've got a plan, why not LeBron opt out and help his team like he did in Miami? I never understood wanting the max money anyway outside of a status symbol for him.

The two years is OK I guess because of the CBA/cap thing, but the one year opt out is suspicious and that stuff is not going to help in attracting other players if Bron keeps giving himself an out. We are ten days into the Bron 2 era and I feel like Gilbert is probably already rolling his eyes behind the scenes wondering why he gave the keys back to Bron, Maverick, and Rich Paul. What happened to being patient and wanting the young guys to develop? I thought Blatt said Wiggins was untouchable? Rocket31 made the case for the win now play, but I myself would still roll the dice that Love is available in a year.

Wiggins, Bennett won't play tonight for #Cavs. Team says plan was always for them to play in just 4 summer league games if all went well.

I think making the trade would be a mistake by Cleveland.

Cleveland is pants-on-head retarded if they trade Wiggins and Bennett for Love. Wait them out. Golden State isn't going to deal Thompson so they aren't a player

Gilbert's an idiot if he does that. Two 1st overall picks, one of which has no ceiling to how great he can become, and another 1st round pick for a guy they could just try and sign next season or make Minnesota sweat and wait until February to get him cheaper.

The only true asset they'd be giving up is wiggins(which they'd have to give anyway). Bennett could be a solid player but he's worth giving up for Love.

If they send MIAs pick(which'll be probably in the late teens/early 20s) and either theirs this year or next year(both would be late anyway.)

Just playing devil's advocate.

They still have to find more money to make the salary work.

The reason he wouldn't take it is so his team could afford to put other pieces around him.

Why don't the complementary players all take less to play with the best player in the world and to be carried by him to a potential championship?

Apparently we should't expect anything from him anytime soon. He is off in China until the 27th.

Minny has the leverage bc of Golden State

Love can nix that deal by saying he's not going to re-sign in GS. Wolves have no leverage. Cleveland needs to stay the course and see what this roster looks like before putting together a package for Love.

If you've paid any attention you'd see that some have taken less. Sometimes it takes both parties to compromise and give up a little to make it happen. The complementary players aren't making 40 mill a year in endorsements either.

For all we know Love would like to play in GS.

I'm sure this has been addressed already but I lost track of this thread. If Cleveland is confident love will resign next year, why give up wiggins? I'm guessing this has to do with cap space?

Well they would have to trade Wiggins to the TWolves for Love to have him re-sign there.

Not trading for him opens up a ton of new possibilities. They wouldn't have his bird rights, he could be traded elsewhere, or he could just choose to go somewhere like LA next summer.

I personally think Cleveland is insane for not doing this already.

This is how I feel.

Minnesota is supposedly getting ready to turn over a top 5 player (IMO) for a bunch of young, relatively unproven players. Its a no-brainer in my eyes, especially factoring in Bron's age, pressure to win, etc.

If you trade and sign love, you have to be COMPLETELY sure that Irving-James-Love are your core. If it doesn't work out, than you're handcuffed.

If you don't trade for love, you could see how wiggins/bennett progress, and you can sign that last star you need to fill the 'missing piece'.

Its a gamble both ways, one is just less risky of a gamble.

One of them is a hell of a lot more risky.

Who are the favorites to land Bledsoe? Bucks?

I'd say the Suns unless anything has changed.

No way in hell he ends up on the Bucks though

Plus making the deal now would allow them to re-sign Varejao + use the MLE next offseason. If they were to sign Love using cap space next offseason, then it looks like they'd have to not pick up Bennett's option (or trade him for space), let Verejao walk, and wait until 2016/17 offseason to use the exceptions and fill out the roster.
