No. In the league today teams play small ball all the time. Miami had sets with Shane Batter at PF. Chandler is 6'9 and can play a lot of minutes there. I don't like his contract but he's still a really good player. I hope we match.

Why wouldn't he sign a long term deal with player options after year 2 in case he gets injured.

I would be more than happy to have Durant in Chicago.
I personally hope he heads to his hometown in DC to play with Wall and Beal

So LeBron basically signed a 1 year deal...

He could already be playing with Beal

I understand that, but no other FA has done this. Is he the only one with enough foresight to think about a better deal two years down the road?
Smells faintly of bullshite.

If he opted out, wouldn't he be able to resign for more next year?

Yeah. I personally don't think he is going anywhere, just seems odd.

AD can come home to Chicago if he wants...

I would have went to chicago if I was Melo.
No rebuild, you're still the superstar or co-superstar. Great team defense and a great coach/city to play for. Miami is pretty much done and Indy is going to explode somehow. Now you have to face an upcoming Toronto team, Cleveland, and MAYBE the Wizards.
It isn't like he's getting paid 10-12mil/yr either, thats still pretty much a max contract Chicago offered him.

Youre crazy....
No way you turn down that much money to live in freaking Chicago.

I'm sure you would have left $50 million on the table

Yeah, in 8-10 years.

KD is coming home to DC in 16.

As a Bulls fan, I don't blame Carmelo one bit. That's a frick ton of money to leave on the table.

You do realize Chicago is basically a smaller New York right? If he loves living in NYC then Chicago would have been the only place close to that.
Not saying it's worth leaving the money on the table, but it is the closest thing to a New York lifestyle
