I like the signing because it keeps things open to trade Parsons if a deal arises in the future.
Plus Parsons can play some stretch 4

If he opted out, wouldn't he be able to resign for more next year?
Yeah. I personally don't think he is going anywhere, just seems odd.
New TV contract with the big money begins for the 16-17 season. Probably just set it up to where he can get the highest max then when the cap increases even more.

Since we couldn't pull off the S&T with Boozer, we got Pau for $6.5 a year? Anybody seen anything concrete on that yet?

Looks like the Bulls won on that trade falling through

Meanwhile, if the Rockets re-up Parsons, they continue to be a basketball thought experiment as much as an actual team.

How long does Houston have to match Parsons offer sheet?

MeH there's nothing really weird about that. Parsons can play small ball 4 and both guys get 30+ min a night. Considering Avery Bradley just signed for 4/32 also it's not a bad deal for HOU.

When Ariza was last with the Rockets he was asked to be the man. Now he's at best the third but likely the 4th option. I like the move a lot. Sign Daniels, find a backup center and maybe another pg although I think Canaan is ready.

I want to see what Nick Johnson can do as a spark off the bench

Meh... Parsons is more of a SF/SG player than SF/PF. Yea he played some PF vs the TrailBlazers... But that's also because they went so small in that series that they had Batum playing the 4. They pretty much went 3 guards, a SF and a PF in that series. He can do that, sure. But he can only do that when opponents do that. He would struggle against true PFs if he did that night in night out.

There really isn't one.
Ariza to Houston huh.. Washington's probably going to miss him if they wanted to keep up with the new Cavs

You do realize Chicago is basically a smaller New York right? If he loves living in NYC then Chicago would have been the only place close to that.
Has nothing to do with the statement I made.

have you ever not liked a deal the Rockets made?

It does, until I saw that the salary cap could jump to around $80 million in 2016. Bout 15 mil higher than now
