@MarkDeeksNBA
Seems the Hawks did indeed waive John Salmons at the close of play yesterday, and didn't miss his revised July 10th guarantee deadline.

I was afraid the Hawks fricked this up somehow

If you are Gilbert, why not just go ahead and issue a press release apologizing? Put all the pressure on Lebron

Dan Gilbert should be on a podium right now outside Quicken Loans Arena saying "I'm sorry I ever wrote the damn letter. I'm an idiot. I'm a retard. I've wronged our king and I grovel before his grace to pardon me..."

Professional sports is a circus. If it takes humiliating yourself to get the GOAT, you humiliate yourself. He certainly didn't have a problem putting that idiotic letter out there in the first place.

I want to see him back in Cleveland. But if Gilbert's apology is an issue, and he won't apologize, it's MIAMITIME FOR LIFE, and for the first time ever, I don't think I'd blame BronBron.

and then LBJ allows Gilbert to spend the rest of his days at the wall as part of the Nights Watch

The fact that neither side had had a press conference by now is pretty ridiculous

If he used the word "retard" he'd be in for a real shitstorm.

But I agree that IF the letter was an issue, Gilbert would be outside the Cavs facility within enough time to roundup every media outlet there is just to say "Sorry"

He won't do, here's his response at the all star break this year:

quote:

Q: How about The Letter? As a whole, do you regret sending it?

A: I would’ve reworded the language in The Letter, but I don’t regret sending a letter out to our fan base. People forget the letter was not to LeBron, it was to our fan base. If I had to do it again, for sure, I would’ve reworded several parts of it. But I think it definitely needed a strong statement from me at that time. I keep a couple binders on my desk and I have a binder of the responses to The Letter from the people of Cleveland. There’s thousands, maybe 2,000 from every facet of life, from CEOs of big companies to hand-written letters from 94-year-old ladies, from street sweepers to policemen and firemen. The response went way beyond. For some reason, it appealed to this generational Cleveland thing. If you want to talk about books, someone should publish all the responses to The Letter. It was like, ‘We’re from Cleveland and we’ve been rejected.’

quote:

Q: Were you surprised by the reaction? Did you know it would cause that type of firestorm?

A: No, not to the extent that it did. I didn’t think it would. Going back now and looking, yeah probably. But at the time? I didn’t think it would become sort of the thing that it did.

quote:

Q: Has it had any negative impact on your organization over the last four years?

A: You never know for sure, but I haven’t felt it or been aware of it. People said nobody would come here, that’s not true. Do I think any players are going to not come here because Dan wrote a letter three or four years ago? I don’t think so.

at the last one.

Well he is supposed to announce before he leaves for Brazil.

Somebody asked what time his flight was and someone responded that it is this afternoon.

I was just wondering what time his flight was so that I know to expect something before then.

If I was lebron I would make dan Gilbert issue a public apology. I would make him read it on tv from his knees. And if he refused I would issue a statement that said I would sign with Cleveland but Gilbert won't apologize. The public would hate him
