Haynes already said they still have max space for Kawhi.

ETA: Clips have Mcgruders bird rights

The room exception is $4.7 million this year and $5 million next year. Not out of the realm of possibility that the numbers could end up matching the official numbers.

biggest prob with BI is that he is going to demand 4/$100 milli next yr

do pels take that risk?

honestly that was one of my biggest hold-ups with the trade. the best piece (arguably) was going to command a monster contract and I'm not confident he's worth it

Anxiously awaiting Woj's tweet telling us how this fits around Kawhi.

Gall makes 22 million. It would be somewhat difficult to find someone with enough space at this point. They’d have to take on someone (for 17 or less I guess)
Mavs have just enough, not sure if they'd be interested.

You do realize he was better than Kuz last season, right?
Kuzma had better advanced metrics basically across the board (PER, WS/48, BPM, RPM, PIPM, RAPM). Averaging the 4 plus-minus advanced metrics, Kuzma (+0.14) provided 1.65 more points per 100 possessions than Ingram (-1.51). That extrapolates to about 3 more wins in his time on the court than Ingram.

In other words, Ingram was definitely not better than Kuzma last year, and in fact Ingram regressed from the season before.

5 million is larger than any exception that the Clippers would have right? And would leave them without max room unless they are moving someone?

@KeithSmithNBA
This will be another delayed signing while the Clippers await a decision from Kawhi Leonard on where he'll play next season.

Also, they can just sign him after they Sign Kawhi.

quote:

@KeithSmithNBA To be very clear here, since everyone is asking: Clippers projected cap space includes cap holds for both Rodney McGruder and Ivica Zubac. LAC still has more than enough space to offer Kawhi Leonard a full max deal. Beverley, McGruder, etc will just delay signing if necessary.

Get this feeling that Kawhi just quietly signs with somebody on July 6th at noon and doesn’t announce anything

More cap. Less free agents next year

True, but that's balanced against half the league blowing out their cap sheet this summer.

Regardless, he ain't getting the big bag unless he balls out, so we gucci if he's getting the big bucks.

He'll make sure to get his commitment notarized before releasing a statement to the newspaper.

McGruder has to be an exception. It’s the only way they can go over the cap for him.

They have Zubac’s BR’s so I assume they can for him as well.
