Crazy that Oregon QB is a freshmen and we can't find a quality starter at LSU in any classification.

Yeah 370 yards and 5 Tds vs 3000 yards and 29 Tds

Hill beats out Manziel easily

Manziel, Mariota and Yeldon.. in that order, imo.

Don't know where all the Yeldon love comes from

He is having a nice year, but nowhere near top freshman in the country

Right now I wouldn't even give him the freshman of the year in the SEC. That goes to Gurley from GA

Dixon should be a finalist.

Their numbers are pretty similar(I think) and Gurley is a starter.

Plus, I had him in my 3rd spot, but I forgot about Kenneth Dixon, may have to put him in the 3rd spot.

Comes down to coaching IMO. Chip Kelly probably would've made JJ into a stud.

Mariota to answer the OP.

anyone that says anything other than Manziel for freshman of the year is trolling or just retarded.

Manziel and it isn't close.

And I honestly don't know the rules, but I can't see why they wouldn't allow a redshirt freshman.. A freshman is a freshman period.. same as if he was a RS senior being a senior.

He has very similar stats to Gurley, and isn't even a starter. And he is only getting better, he very well could break 1000 yards and over 12 TDs this year.

It comes down to evaluation as well. Manziel was a verbal to Oregon along with Mariota before A&M offered. Chip offered Manziel before any other D1 school. The only other offer Mariota had was Memphis, if I can remember correctly.

Yeldon?

Are you kidding? Yeldon is the truth. Him not starting will hold him back from winning, but the guy definitely deserves some consideration.

My comment was in regards to our offensive coaching. Evaluation is definitely a factor but my point was that Chip could've made him into a QB where we couldn't.
