NASCAR 2019 Champion - Kyle Busch

Congrats. He's grown on me over the years. Of the 4 I think I would have preferred Truex win it again, but I'm not mad. Kyle is legit the most talented driver in the field, regardless of how people feel about his behaviour at times.

I was also rooting for Truex. I generally couldn't stand Kyle when he first started, but his driving skill is hard to deny. Pretty cool moment now of him driving around with his son.

Race was a another dud.
Only one worse was last week at Phoenix.
Almost nothing happened at all other than on the stage restarts.
Leader got out front and no one challenges them at all.
Kyle Busch is a deserving winner because he’s so good but he’s a miserable person.
At least Truex didn’t win
Championship next year will be in Phoenix. Not excited about that but the lead up to the final is much better than the current lineup.

Yep just told my wife how these end of the year races are forced to be in warm places that have a good chance of good weather. They are pretty boring. I’m glad Kyle won though; at least he has a personality and can win at a variety of tracks.

Next year the race before the final is Martinsville. So that should be a bit better I’m hoping.

Wasn’t this his first 1.5 track win this year?

Last few races have been boring. Restarts are exciting for about 2-3 laps.
Congrats to Kyle Busch.
Congrats to Kyle Busch.

Why has Truex become so good as he’s gotten older? I think he won like 3 races from 2004-2015 and since then has been really good winning a lot of races.

Hard to believe at one point Kyle Busch was with Hendrick. Wanna say 2004 or so. Busch, Gordon and Jimmy Johnson on the same team. Wow

He was with them for many years in the 5 car at the beginning of his cup career.

I wonder how much Hendrick kicks himself for not booting Casey Mears after he got Dale Jr. Was a dumb move to give up your future, but all he could see was the dollar signs that Jr would bring in with sponsorships/merchandising and Casey had just come on board.
Busch definitely made out better by going to be the face of Toyota and Gibbs instead of 3rd man behind Gordon and Johnson and would of probably been booted to fourth man behind Earnhardt.

The 5 car just never was the same quality as the 24 and 48. If he has gotten the equipment that the 48 got, he'd have a shite ton of titles now too.

Can we lower the max HP thus lowering speeds and then allow some "rubbing is racing" tactics back into the sport? Watching a NASCAR race on TV is like watching golf, you tune in but don't need to pay attention the entire time.

Hendrick isn't the type of person to put up with Kyle's attitude, especially the attitude he had when he was driving for Mr. H and first went to Gibbs.
Yes, his equipment wasn't as good as the 24/48 but it was still pretty damn good. Kyle's head just wasn't in the right place. In 2007, Kyle ran into the back of Jr (still driving the 8 for DEI) in a race at Texas. The 8 went back on the track but the motor broke a bit later. Jr. gets back to the garage and the 5 car is fixed, but Kyle has pitched a fit and left. Jr. jumps in he car and picks up a few points for the team/car.
The folks at Gibbs seem to be a much more forgiving type of organization. I think with the religious/spiritual background of Joe and J.D. (RIP), they probably mentored/counseled Kyle a good bit and gave him the hands on treatment he wasn't going to get at HMS. I think they got him on the right path.
I also think Samantha has been a good influence on Kyle, and the issues they have dealt with in having a family have seemed to center him. They struggled with having a family and ended up having to go the IVF route - having a couple of losses to go along with their son. Their foundation actually helps pay for IVF treatments for families that otherwise couldn't afford them, and Samantha and Kyle read the grant requests personally and choose who to help.
