July race at Daytona is a blast. I have been to Deg several times, finally got to Daytona for the 400 miler July of 2007. The cars under the lights are really cool. Atlanta under the lights is nice, but at Daytona is amazing.

I am still wanting to go down for Speedweeks in February once in my life to say I have been to the 500, but it is just so dang expensive. Most hotels have 4 and 5 night minimum stays. I guess I just need to win the lottery and go down for about 10 days and see everything - the shootout, the duals, trucks, Nationwide and the 500.

The race is fun, but I don't care for Daytona's setup, setup meaning the outside events, getting in and out of the place, etc. Probably has to do with the sheer number of people there. By comparison, I really liked Homestead.

Ok dumb question, but wasnt Hamlin already past Newmann on that last curve before he was forced low? I thought it was all things go to the flag on last lap.

Not a dumb question but the truth is what NASCAR says and what NASCAR does are two completely different things. I would just forget that NASCAR ever said that about all things go on the last lap because Im sure they have.

Ok serious question. How do people pick their favorite drivers? I mean they drive on a circle track most of the time. Are their driving styles really all that different. Or do people just like who has the best accent or from their home state? Someone inform me I'm not a NASCAR fan at all.

My favorite drivers are Dave Blaney and Tony Stewart. Blaney is from near my hometown and his family still races locally. Stewart because of his commitment and involvement in dirt track racing.

I go by state and brand loyalty.

So Va and dodge all day, but I'm not really loyal to any driver.

I guess I would have to say Edwards and Kahne if I had to pick

Mostly personalities.
I had a hard time not rooting for Dale Jr after seeing what happened to him at Daytona in 2001. Not just his dad dying in February, but Jr coming back in July and winning the first race back there since his dad's death.
