This is your way of saying you don't believe social anxiety is a thing. Marshawn Lynch is not an anxious man. He just found talking to the media pointless and annoying, but there was no anxiety there. There is a big difference between Lynch and Ricky Williams who wouldn't have had it in himself to be so publically defiant.

Who is trying to have it both ways here? They gave her options and she chose the best one for herself. There is no rule that she has to play.

if by mental health reasons you mean being directly responsible for the death of his father, then sure

I think it is likely that she got into a pissing contest with the tournament and is behaving in an unprofessional way.

However that cannot be proven and since she says she has mental issues (anxiety and depression) I hope she feels better soon.

She should have worn a dark tint Miami dolphins helmet.

Wait. You think Michael Jordan killed his dad? Now this is the kind of batshit conspiracy theorizing that normally I'd have to go to the PoliBoard for. Please tell me more.

you're too easy.

I can 100% question her heart if I wanted to.

He's just referencing that Jordan's gambling debts got his dad killed. Pretty common theory. No idea if it's true, but it's been around for a long time.

Considering how things played out, this seems very likely.

You're right. I suppose that there's no mechanism to stop you from talking out your arse. I'm just saying questioning her heart is nonsense and lacks validity. People without heart don't come back from 1-6 in major finals.

So when you wrote "directly" you meant, indirectly and then only if a baseless and nonsensical conspiracy theory is true.

Might point remains. There was nothing physically wrong with Jordan when he retired. He wasn't where he needed to be mentally and a friggin baseball walk about. Clearly, he was going through stuff.

A lot of energy spent defending a quitter who doesn't want to do part of her job

My bad. The guy I responded to said Jordan directly caused his Dad's death which would have been a wrinkle on the already ridiculous conspiracy theory of which I was familiar.

Talking to the media is part of the job. If she doesn’t like it, there are plenty of jobs available in the world. Good for the French Open for not caving.

She gets paid a lot of money to play tennis. Most media members are idiots but it’s part of the job and it’s the least she can do. Media coverage is partly why people care about sports because you get to hear the athletes speak about what they did and you can also get a little insight into an athlete’s personality. It’s a good promotional tool for the athletes who understand the obligation and cooperate.

Or you can be a crybaby and withdraw.

I'm just sitting on the shitter, it's not costing much energy at all.

One quibble, she works for herself. Her job is whatever she says it is. And today, she said talking to the Roland Garros press wasn't part of her job. Bigger question is why do you care. You're spending an awful lot of energy arguing with a stranger about your wish to dictate to another stranger about how she should run her business which is more successful than anything you've ever done.

No, she doesn’t. The tournament extended her invitation to play. Their rules include speaking to the media. You don’t like it, you get fined, then your match will be forfeited for further violations. Or you can quit. She chose option C.

The girl could have easily just avoided the media or not answered any questions but instead she chose to preemptively make a big deal out of it. This was strictly a publicity stunt to get more people talking about her and I’d bet her next step is to make some sort of statement that has nothing to do with this issue.
