To all the Ohio St fans, I get that the 2006 loss was bad given the undefeated season, Heisman winner, and winning streak; but I'm surprised none of you mentioned the next year when OSU had the chance to redeem themselves, and layed a slightly smaller (but not much smaller) egg against LSU.
The LSU loss didn't hurt nearly as bad as the Florida loss. We backed into the LSU game with numerous teams losing. We were lucky to get there, especially considering all the talent we lost from the '06 game.
It also helped that we put up a much better fight against LSU. Personally, I think the score from that game is misleading. Florida just whooped the piss out of us. LSU, not so much. Robo's drop in the endzone during the 2nd quarter was huge. It was neck and neck until that drop, which resulted in a blocked FG... you know the rest.

'98 Vikings loss to the Falcons in NFC Championship. Possibly the best offense of all time, Anderson hadn't missed a kick of any kind all year...
Second would be Cap 1 loss to Iowa cuz I was there with my brother the Iowa fan. To this day, EVERY time I talk to him he reminds me of it.

1. Indians lose game 7 to Marlins
2. Browns-Broncos "the drive"
3. Browns-Broncos "the fumble"
4. Kenston vs West Geauga basketball 1976. Kenston had a one point lead with seconds left and I turned the ball over near mid-court. We lost by 1.

1997 Rose Bowl OSU over ASU. Denied ASU the National Championship. Made worse by the fact that the QB that lead the drive to win it for OSU (Joe Germaine) was from Mesa, AZ and the WR that caught the game winning pass(David Boston) was thereafter drafted by the Cardinals.
...If only the BCS were around, ASU would have never played OSU and instead would have played Florida St. in the Sugar Bowl.
What could have been...

1990 USA v. Italy in the World Cup. The U.S. team were a bunch of amatuers/pseudo-professionals/college kids. Tony Meola, Eric Wynalda, John Harkes, Marcelo Balboa, Tab Ramos, Paul Caligiuri, et. al. Lucky to be there.
Second game in group play, Italy couldn't score on us until Salvatore "Toto" Schillaci comes on as a substitute. But U. S. had chances, and Walter Zenga's arse kept the U.S. off the scoresheet, we would have LEAD 1-0 against Italy in Stadio Olimpico.

Not when a considerable amount of it was due to stupid penalties and mistakes on Ohio State's part. I still don't understand how Austin Spitler missed blocking that punt. The dude was right infront of it and ends up just bulldozing the punter.

2005 Super Bowl; the way things have been going, it might be several years before the Seahawks have another shot at winning the SB.

Browns vs. Raiders. Browns needed a field goal to win the playoff game at home in terrible conditions and Brian Sipe threw a fricking interception into the end zone. Browns were one of the top seeds in the playoffs.
Browns vs. Denver. Elway. The frickING DRIVE. Kept the Browns out of the Super Bowl. Enough said.
Browns vs. Denver. Ernest Byner. The frickING FUMBLE. Kept the Browns out of the Super Bowl in one of the greatest playoff comebacks ever. Enough said.
Those are the big 3, but the Drive was the most painful. As soon as Elway completed the 3rd and 18 after the ball ricocheted off Steve Watson while Elway was in the shotgun, the game became a horror movie where you know the outcome ain't gonna be pretty.
Oh yeah, and Rich Karlis missed the field goal in overtime.

Remember we got slammed by Czecholovakia 5-1 in the opener, but we got the "goal of honor" but Wynalda got sent off for a stupid reaction foul.
