He defends the pass extremely well and has the quickness to cover the field sideline to sideline.
You gotta take this analysis with a grain of salt if the guy thinks Rolle has the quickness to cover sideline to sideline. Rolle moves like a LB, quickness was his most glaring flaw.
And Enrique, FAMU is a recruiting tool that not many realize. There isn't a finer collection of black chicks anywhere in the country.

You're right, except for the fact that he graduated in 5 semesters.
With the way public universities allow AP credit to transfer into college, basically any regular student in the Ivy League could do the same thing, especially with all the summer courses that Rolle took at FSU.
This is still very impressive because Rolle managed to juggle everything with his football activities and his volunteer work in the Caribbean. He is basically a top 50-60 national player in college football and a good enough student to get into most Ivy League schools without affirmative action or athletics.
This can probably be said of less than 10 elite athletes in the past two decades (Battier, Pennington, and Knight probably being three of them). However, the media has exaggerated what Rolle has done, especially the ESPN anchors who pretend that they are mentally retarded by comparison.

I think part of it is because they are kissing FSU's arse after exposing their academic liabilities.

You might be right, but I don't understand their reasoning. It's not as if FSU can boycott ESPN. More importantly, having a very bright guy on the football team doesn't change the fact that they cheated to keep many other players eligible.

What was Mr. Rolle's undergraduate education in? Though Florida State has a less than stellar reputation, there are some departments there that could certainly compete with the Ivies. Perhaps his choice of university is indicative of a specific departmental superiority rather than outright reputation?

He aims to be a doctor, correct? That degree sounds like it entails the course work of a physical education instructor. And he got a Rhodes scholarship for that?
I once had a professor at Oxford (visiting professor at my undergraduate institution) who looked like Jack Nicholson when he played the Joker from one of the Batman movies. She was a quite stupid Wittgenstein...ian.

Right, he majored in exercise science and also completed the pre-med requirements.

Hardly the antecedent for a Rhodes scholar. Does he speak any other languages? He resume apparently hinges on playing Division I football.

Right, much like with Chad Pennington being a finalist (and possibly Emeka Okafor). Same with Greg McElroy if he advances to that stage next year

SC had a basketball player that won one last year. He was terrible though.

So what do you say about the NINE Rhodes scholarship winners this year who played sports in college?

He is pursuing a master's degree in medical anthropology at fricking Oxford. All the people on here trying to discredit him can eat a dick. The dude is a fricking model citizen and regardless of what he did to get to Oxford... He is still way smarter than you and me.

Exactly. Not exactly basketweaving.

I'm rather curious about the motivation of the people who are trying to discredit him, personally...

I won't talk shite about his undergrad degree because I've looked at the Exercise Science course load, there is a shitton of Biology and not really much different than a pre-med degree. I think it just has less chemistry in it.

Yeah Excersise Science is one of those majors that sounds a lot easier than it is
Posted on 12/23/09 at 1:48 pm to usc6158
It's a really common major for people who want to go to PT or PA school.

Should Rhodes scholarships be reserved for those who are able to play sports in college? Those kids all look to have better resumes than Rolle, whose primary accomplishment seems to be graduating in an easy major in five semesters along with playing mediocre football for a mediocre football team.
