early ducet. he would play qb until they got into the redzone then he would line up at wr and they would just throw a jump ball into the endzone. and wouldn't you know it, he'd catch every damn one of them.

I used to make Chris Williams (1st round draft pick and starting guard for the Chicago Bears) cry on the reg in middle school football. Also, played on the same high school team as Brandon Harrison(Stanford,Texans) and the infamous Doug Planchard. Played against Glen Dorsey, Skyler green, Mewelde Moore, and a bunch more LSU players.

I went 0-2 against Mark Prior in a wood bat tournament in 1996 (I may have fouled off a pitch but I could be making that up or remembering incorrectly). His SoCal team ended up winning the tourney. In that same tournament, Josh Beckett pitched for a team out of Texas.

Also played against Dexter Pittman in the winter and a few guys that ended up on Arkansas and Ole Miss' basketball teams but never did much.

I was a freshman at Mississippi State when they went to the Final Four.

I moved into the dorms on the first day possible in the fall. My dorm was right by the gym, so I'd go shoot for a couple hours a day. I was in shape, and could shoot a decent jumper, but I'm not a basketball player.... as most 5-7 white guys aren't.

Anyway, the gym had four courts, I was on one, and on the next was a pretty spirited "game" going on.

After about 30 minutes, one of the guys approaches. He says "hey man, we have 9 and want to run full court, can you be our 10th?"

I say okay, get down there and start looking around. These guys are HUGE. I recognized Dampier and Dontae Jones, and figured out pretty quickly that this was the basketball team, having an informal scrimmage. I was scared shitless. I played with them for about an hour. I took one shot (and only because Darrell Wilson, the PG, told me during a water break "I saw you shoot on the other end, I know you can shoot. Next time I give you the ball in the corner, shoot it..."), and basically just passed the ball as soon as I touched it.

But, I didn't embarrass myself. I was in shape enough to run up and down the court and (mostly) stay with my man on defense and run him around a little on offense. I knew enough about the game to go over and under picks properly, and when to sag off my guy to cut off post passes, etc. (not that I could have done anything...)

Anyway, that's my story of playing basketball with a Final Four team.
