I also think it was Barry Sanders.

But anyone old enough who ever saw Gale Sayers play or viewed footage of him would know he is just behind Sanders.

Emmitt wasn't fast enough to be included. Was a great rb. Just not as electrifying.

Eric Dickerson his first few years was the second best RB I ever saw.

Earl Campbell his first 3-4 seasons was the best RB the NFL has seen.

Not old enough to have seen early Jim Brown, OJ, and Sweetness, but they’re up there too.

You can really tell people’s ages by their response. Lol.

Bo was electrifying because he was a homerun back. Fans, announcers, coaches, teammates, and opponents all talked about how they would stop what they were doing when Raiders came back on offense just to watch Bo. Barry Sanders was the most elusive hands down, but Bo defined electrifying.

Adrian Peterson. He had the perfect combo of speed & power.

ETA: He also had the greatest single season ever for a running back IMO. Finished with 2,097 yards (8 shy of the single season record) and did it less than a year after tearing his ACL. The injury is what makes this accomplishment so amazing.

There was a highlight tape of his NFL runs up through 2014, or so. It was better than some 5* backs' high school tape.

He was incredible in his prime.

Gale Sayers was electric, you never knew where he was going next.

Gayle Sayers
Barry Sanders
Mike Vick

In no particular order, but all three have to be within Top 5-7.

A bit out of the box...but Jerry Rice’s yards after catch during his prime is definitely note-worthy for a discussion like this. He was never thought of as he fastest player on the field, but his knack for still taking short passes the distance or breaking away from double coverage while the ball was in the air was amazing. Randy Moss could be counted in that same vein, though he had a ton more natural speed that Rice. GOAT just still figured out a way to break long ones, despite his “average” 4.5 40 speed.

Vick is an interesting addition to the thread..and I like it . He may actually be the answer...he was absolutely remarkable to watch. Must see TV. Mainly because he was a QB doing this, and that was still relatively new. I watched every Falcon's game for years just to watch him play(I'm a Bucs fan, I don't like the Falcons).

LaDanian Tomlinson needs more consideration.

Was coming to post Tomlinson. My short list of players I've seen in person is Tomlinson and Kamara. An honorable mention to WAS WR Charlie Brown who blew up the Saints for 150+ way back in 1982 (1st NFL game I ever attended).

When Earl Campbell ran, the Oilers had eleven or twelve additional players on the field because he did his own blocking.

tough call.

Bo Jackson, Tomlinson, Barry Sanders?

Dante Hall with the Chiefs could be just as exciting to watch at times.
