Those were the early days of NIL. There's zero incentive for top guys to stay on those teams after having a good year.

The more "chalk" these March Madness tournaments become interest will rapidly fade away. And, let's face it, the tournament is the only thing keeping college basketball even semi-relevant. Outside of the NCAA tournament, college basketball is on life support.

Should be a good Final Four

Everyone says that but the ratings and attendance tell a different story. However depending on what you mean by “this”/GMU, there have been multiple mid major schools in the FF since 2006 including 2 in 2023. It’s way too early to say if this year is the way it will be for the foreseeable future. There have been chalk years before

The ratings tell a different story. Everyone says they love “Cinderella” but they don’t watch when it’s San Diego St vs Florida Atlantic

Yeah, Cinderellas are nice up until the sweet 16.... Elite 8 and beyond I'd rather see chalk.

But when there's no threat or prospect of a George Mason or FGCU pulling an upset or two, the charm will be gone and interest will wane.

“Never” is a really, really long time. From the history of the tournament to March 2018 everyone knew that a 16 seed would never advance.
You retards are really quick to proclaim “never,” but you don’t seem to know what that word means.
“Never” doesn’t mean 8 years from now.

Every march madness I’ve watched for over 50 years has been good. People just expect too much nowadays. Most of the time the cream rises to the top anyway. Now that I’m older I still enjoy the exprirence of it all. The loser goes home and the winner moves on. Still a great concept.

If a sports fan can't enjoy March madness then it's a 'them' problem.
Even on down years it's still top 5 sports event of the year.
And hard to judge the tournament amongst other years until it's over.
OP can head to the gay soccer board if he doesn't like the tourny, I'll be pounding premade old fashioneds and seeing what cream rises to the top on cbs

Yet viewership is at a 32 year high and I’d bet Alabama duke last night had great numbers as well. But no, the more sports board says basketball is dead just like the NFL and NBA.

Oh, I'm sure the tourney will carry on with the momentum from past years for a little while. But, if it just becomes power team after power team after chalk pick, that will start to ebb.

No Alabama No care anymore.

It's great that 1-3 seeds are making it to the regional finals and all 1 seeds in the final.
It's like the regular season actually matters now.

Oh yeah that Florida game sucked? They’ve had two classics this tournament. Arkansas Texas Tech suck? Yall don’t even watch these games I am convinced.
Been plenty of great games.

So seeding actually matters for once.
Everyone being determined that the top seeds facing each other in the elite 8 and final 4 rounds is the downfall of the tournament is hilarious. The ratings will smash previous years but people will get tired of the top teams playing each other?
