Not comparing him to Sugar Ray Robinson be he's been great. He's getting to his mid 30s now though. At some point he's gonna lose and we'll hear how he sucked all along.

and you would be wasting your time to argue with those idiots. i bet 90% of the people saying that he's "shitty" haven't seen 5 of his fights. that's message boards for you.

Shane has trouble with speed and movement, and likes guys to come to him.. Tonight was far too difficult for his style to overcome. His conditioning was not there either.
Mosley has always done well against fighters that either stood directly in front of him, like Oscar De La Hoya, or attacked him like Antonio Margarito. If you do either of those things in a fight against Mosley, it’s playing into his hands. In the fights that Mosley has had problems with, in defeats to Winky Wright and Vernon Forrest, he had to deal with a little bit of movement and had problems dealing with the jabs from the two fighters.

lol at using this fight or any other fight as an example to why mayweather would beat another opponent.

I think the hate for Mayweather is willingness to be the bad guy. He will do what he needs to do to make a fight appealing.
If he had Julio Cesar Chavez type of personality, nobody would drop money to watch PPV.

Did you watch the fight? Mayweather was the agressor all night. He pushed the pace of the fight. You obviously really don't like Mayweather.
SSM's conditioning was there, he just was beaten to every punch and got frustrated. He lost his edge last night because of FM speed and defense. It happens to every fighter that fights Mayweather.

i don't like mayweather. but yeah Mayweather became the aggressor. that was nice to see.
and mosley looked gas from round 2 till round 12. how do you not notice that? i take nothing away from mayweather. i said he looked sharp. he really did. from a standpoint of being a fan of mosley i was disappointed that's all. he did not take on the same mentality when he fought margarito.. the me against the world.. the imma prove everyone wrong.. i didn't see that same want or look all night.. i don't mind he got whooped.. there's no other way to describe it really.. i wish he had that eye of the tiger before the fight ever started, and he didn't.

quote:No he didn't. He looked overmatched. Every time he tried to attack Mayweather, May punished him w/ a razor sharp counter or simply beat him to the punch. Shane didn't look gassed; he looked tentative.

quote:B/c Margarito is not even close to Mayweather's league. That look in Moseley wasn't lack of hunger. It was the "oh shite I had no idea he was this frickin fast and strong" look."

As I'd been saying in all these threads, Mosley's alleged ability to challenge Mayweather was the product of a great hype machine mostly perpetuated by Mayweather desperate to pump up Mosley into that big-name, in-prime fighter that Mayweather has never fought. I said Mayweather might not lose a round and some people on this board went nuts and said I was crazy.
Mayweather didn't dominate b/c Mosley didn't bring his "A" game. May is just that damn good. And anybody who says they didn't get their money's worth from watching that fight isn't a real boxing fan. That clinic put on by Mayweather was absolutely a thing of beauty. It was the next best thing to a competitive fight--it was an all-time great demonstrating his superiority at the height of his power--It was Ali vs. Cleveland Williams; Jack Johnson v. Jim Jeffries; Jack Dempsey vs. Jess Willard.
And for the record: I frickin hate Mayweather and hope that Pac-man kicks the dog shite out of him.

Well, guys... I won't be retracting any statements that I had made before the fight. It went exactly as I had expected it to, but with one exception: Floyd showed a lot more balls than I ever thought he would.
I was certainly bored with his lack of combos. But was very impressed with his willingness to be the aggressor. His ring generalship was top-notch last night, which goes against my reasoning for not finding him to be an entertaining boxer. I was totally surprised, and in a very good way.
However, he's still a doucher with a lot to prove. I said before the fight that SSM was getting old, and was not much of a test for PBF. I won't agree to his claims that he's the best until I see him fight someone like Williams, Berto, or Pacquiao. But on the other hand, he did claim that he doesn't care about his legacy, and that he's fighting strictly for a paycheck. If he's being honest with himself there, then sure - He's the best at what he does. But he doesn't need to claim that he "IS boxing" or that he's "boxing history".

this fight happen 7 years ago or Shane the same age as Mosley, it's like Benitez and SugarRay all over again, a cat and mouse game. Shane wasn't in shape like he thought and was blowin throughout, when you've been fighting as long as he is it eventually catches up to you.
Posted on 5/2/10 at 7:31 pm to tubucoco
who should shane fight next? or should he fight again at all?
Posted on 5/2/10 at 7:36 pm to LSUFan3434
quit now, he's had a long and great career, he is training his son right now, focus on that. People like Roy Jones, Hopkins, and Holyfield are crazy, they may not feel the effects now, but as they age they will be soorryy!

Great fight by Mayweather. Thought he would win a UD, just thought Mosley would give him more trouble. Instead, Mosley was completely taken off of his game and beat in every aspect. Kudos to Floyd!! He dominated.
Next for boxing fans: Vasquez vs Marquez IV on May 22 on Showtime. 3 fights already. Two were Ring Magazines fight of the year and one was candidate for fight of the year.
Edit: I believe its time for Shane to retire. He is 1-2 in his last three fights against fighters ranked on the top of his division. He had a great career, made a lot of money, and will be a boxing hall of famer. It should be the end.

I agree for the most part. However, Hopkins is still capable of kicking some arse for a few more years. He's as much of a beast today as he was 5 years ago.
