My BIL bought one when we went in 2018 because he thought it was funny. They had a ton of them and no one else really seemed to be buying them. The explosion in popularity they have gained since then makes no sense to me. I just don’t get it.

But, will they have Egg Salad hats?

I was there last year and the morning line was 3.5 hours long. A volunteer working the line told us it was all for the gnomes and suggested coming back after lunch. We did, and the line was only about 15 minutes.
They’re also cracking down on bulk buying next year. The couple in front of us grabbed around 30 hats, 20 polos, and a pile of other merch. I assume they were going to flip them.
I’m with you on the ‘F-you money’ point. It feels like the members’ goal is to keep the tournament accessible for everyday golf fans, not let it morph into a Super Bowl-style event dominated by corporate money and sky-high ticket prices. Shutting down the secondary ticket market seems like part of that effort.

They’re cute and I’d love one for my garden. But there’s no way I’d stand in line for almost 4 hours and miss actual golf for it. And I’m definitely not paying thousands for it on the secondary market. It’s a damn garden decoration.

Never even knew that was a thing when I went to augusta in 2017.
Because '17 was the first year.
The gnomes are are an absolute shitshow and this should be the last year they offer them.

Good. The amount of women I've seen post Masters merch on Facebook since last week is crazy. No, I don't think I anyone wants to pay $250 for a Masters Polo for a tournament they didn't even go to. I saw one last night that was a Ladies T-shirt for over $80. A freaking T-shirt.

I have been denied in the lottery for about 10 years now. I think if I ever got tickets, I might just skip the merch entirely. I am already just going to have mental images of the day in my head since phones aren't allowed. It wouldn't make sense to waste my small amount of time there in a line to buy a hat.

Masters needs a complete overhaul after this year. It’s now just the Kentucky derby for golf

I'm not sure what the fix is for it but if anyone can figure it out, definitely it's Augusta.
Have a bigger merch tent maybe, idk? I saw somewhere they made $10 million a day on merch. I'm sure they aren't upset about that and agree they will figure out how to make shopping for merch more efficient
