no. because

weird that the MLS team doesn't get much support while the minor league baseball team down the road is usually packed each game

That's a generalization.

Did I say it wasn't.

The thing is baseball is still HUGE in Louisiana, where most posters here live. It's really not nearly that big elsewhere. I was mostly talking about here in FL, though.

Do you have any stats?

Yes. See the OP.

Depends on what you're looking for.

If you're looing for the game played the highest level, of course it's a poor representation.

If you're looking for a relaxed atmosphere, generally more accessible players, and cheap way to spend an afternoon with the family.

Agreed. But he spoke on "in-game entertainment". So for that, ST is a poor representation.

FC Dallas is probably the second worst supported club in MLS. Their attendance numbers are atrocious. Mostly because they stupidly built that great stadium in BFE.

The OP links a stat about being an avid fan of MLS and MLB, for the nation. Not Florida. Or not about playing baseball or soccer.

And also, it says that MLS is EQUAL to MLB, and actually slightly below MLB.

So saying most kids don't care about or play baseball in Florida has nothing to do with the article linked in the OP.

No shite, bud. This thread has made the natural progression most threads make and it's not strictly about the OP anymore.

I was simply speaking about MY experience where I live.

Sure have.

They built the stadium in the burbs. This has proven time and time again to negatively effect attendance in MLS.

That doesn't mean "facts are facts" with YOUR experience. You pointed me to the OP, so I commented on that.

This tells me you're completely full of shite. Kids love baseball in all warm weather climates.

Baseball in the Northeast is much more popular than soccer.

The Northeast, South, and Texas are all more interested in baseball than soccer. While Florida doesn't have great fans of the teams they support (just a fair weather state and so many people not from FL), their kids apparently play a lot of baseball. See recent MLB drafts for proof.

it's hard getting a 6 year old to be patient enough to play baseball. It's not hard to throw a soccer ball out and watch all the kids run after it for 30 minutes.

So they really learn nothing by just "running after it?"

You must live in a very urban part of Miami. (not the burbs)

Orlando, Tampa, Tally, Jville, and even Naples all have huge numbers of youth baseball participants.

they are 6, and they are learning how to dribble and kick in general.

the point is, what kid wants to sit in the outfield and bat twice in 30 minutes, when they can run around chasing a ball for 30 minutes.
I don't know if you have kids, or know about kids, but they don't like to sit still and do nothing, which baseball encompasses a lot of doing nothing.

General observations of being out and about in my city. I'm not saying it's anything scientific. I see tons of kids in soccer uniforms on any given weekend. Tons of stickers on cars. Baseball not nearly as much.

Again, I love baseball. Played it my whole life and it was my favorite sport growing up. But times are changing.

Hint: (look at my user name).

Soccer is huge here in Jax. Soccer isn't as big in Miami as most assume. The immigrants there are mostly Dominican and Cuban and they give almost zero fricks about soccer.
