Isn't he kind of positionless though?

Damn, I would have much rather had Alvarez, but it isn't a terrible haul compared to what we would have gotten had we kept him.

Good trade for the Dodgers as far as rentals go

Yeah, as much as I wish we could have trade raped I think it will work out for both teams.

I think he has improved this year at 2b but could play OF. Could easily end up being a crazy good DH though.

Pretty disappointed with what the Stros did today when you see the returns for some of these guys. I like the Liriano move a lot as a cheap secondary type of deal but they had to do something else IMO.

The meltdown is real in our thread so I figured I would try to post here for more actual discussion

The Dodgers got better today without giving up much besides Calhoun, who was never going to start for the Dodgers.

They gave up Oneil Cruz and Angel German for Tony Watson. Cruz is listed for now as a SS, but he'll end up at 3B or OF because he's 6'6. He's got potential, but he's having a bad year this year as he moved up in competition. German is a hard throwing RHP, but he wasn't in the Dodgers top 30 prospects. More in the 40-50 range.

Dodgers gave up Scott Van Slyke and Hendrik Clemintina for Cingrani. Everybody knows what Van Slyke is. Clemintina is a 20 year old C who was blocked by Will Smith, Keibert Ruiz, and Connor Wong in the Dodgers system. He wasn't in the Dodgers top 50 prospects.

The haul for Darvish is also light IMO. Calhoun can hit, but he's not a 2B. He's a LF or a DH. Brendan Davis is a 20 year old SS who, like Oneil Cruz, will end up at 3B. His bat is starting to come around, but he's a long way from the majors. AJ Alexy has a FB that tops out around 88-90 right now. Not many RHP's with that kind of stuff make it in the majors. Good trade for the Dodgers IMO.

Verlander is the only guy discussed today who I could see being an impactful waiver deal

Perhaps the most noteworthy thing from the Dodgers side of today's deals is that they traded away their top two 3B prospects, Oneil Cruz and Brendan Davis. They're both young; Cruz is only 18 and Davis is 20, but I'm not sure either one of the guys was the Dodgers 3B of the future. I wonder if an eventual move of Seagar to 3B is in the cards. The Dodgers do have some decent SS talent in the system in Gavin Lux, Drew Jackson, and Ronny Brito.

i have faith in our ability to fill the spot. we have a couple years to do so with JT holding it down and even then, we will probably be a player for machado

i think what i like the most about this is that we didnt really get into our true high end, low minor talent. thats still all intact and really doenst screw with the organization

I logged onto 5dimes to see if they had World Series odds up cause I was curious how big of favorites LA is now

They only had AL pennant odds listed. Was kinda surprised

Houston Astros +185
Cleveland Indians +395
Boston Red Sox +400
New York Yankees +665
Kansas City Royals +1525
Seattle Mariners +2650
Tampa Bay Rays +2650

Yeah that was my initial thought

But I have a rule about lines that seem too good to be true in Vegas....do the opposite of whatever I think

Royals are the best bargain on that board right now.
