I've often seen Jay Bruce play in games against the Cubs and asked myself "Why is Jay Bruce not a better hitter?"

Conforto, Amed Rosario or Dominic Smith better not be involved in this trade.

UPDATE: The Red Sox are "pushing hardest" to land Sale, per Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports. The Red Sox discussed Sale with the White Sox late Sunday evening, according to Bob Nightengale of USA TODAY. A potential Boston package is believed to lead with outfield prospect Andrew Benintendi and left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez, per Phil Rogers of MLB.com.

They're definitely sending all three of those to the Reds according to Buster

they aren't. Nimmo, who's a 4 OF IMO. I like the pickup for the Mets, need some kind of spark, I don't think they're giving much up. Nimmo isn't a superstar to be or anything and well yeah OF is crowded but Collins can make it work, hopefully.

I like the move

Lots of smoke around the Cubs and Tampa Bay; Cubs want one of those pitchers.

don't listen to that troll, Nimmo is the main name, all you need to know.

Mets aren't going to go crazy. But Nimmo and a body for Bruce works IMO

Brandon Nimmo
Over 300 average in 2016, advanced hitter, good defensively. Power is lacking.

quote:

In some ways, it seems like Nimmo was drafted a lifetime ago, as a project of a first-round pick out of Wyoming, where he had no high school team. Yet had the Mets been told he'd reach Triple-A and make the 40-man roster following the 2015 season, they'd have been thrilled to hear it. In many ways, Nimmo has exceeded expectations, especially with his approach at the plate. He's had an advanced knowledge of the strike zone since his pro career began and that continued at Triple-A. That should allow Nimmo to continue to hit for average. The big question has been about the power, something that shows up in batting practice regularly and just needs to translate to game play. Nimmo is a solid defender who could play center, then slide over to a corner spot down the road. An offseason left foot injury might slow Nimmo temporarily, but the Mets feel he still has the goods to be a big league regular. Even if the power doesn't come, his table-setting skills will help a Major League team win games. Just 23 for all of the 2016 season, Nimmo received his first big league callup in late June.

I agree with this. I think they are going with a get a, bat and make it work, type situation after the talks for Lucroy fell apart. I think you will see Cespedes in left, Bruce in right and Grandy and Conforto will platoon in Center. Not ideal defensively but they need some damn offense.

He's a good player no doubt. Reds get a solid OF for years to come.

I'm just of the mindset that every year you are in contention and the team you run needs some help you have to make a move. It seems like a good one to me, willing to give up Nimmo's future for now. But I'm a Mets fan who cannot take seeing solid pitching performaces go to waste while they leave 12 men on base day after day

Nimmo and 2 lower level prospects for Bruce
