Earlier on Tuesday, the Machado buzz grew louder as MLB.com's Jim Duquette spun a potential blockbuster trade proposal between the O's and their American League East-rival Yankees. The suggested swap? Machado and Zach Britton to the Yanks for righty Domingo German, infielder Brandon Drury and outfielder Clint Frazier.
Yankees should make this one in a heartbeat

However,

One possible catch in a Yanks-O's trade -- or with any other club that might prefer Machado at the hot corner: The former third baseman once again made it clear, this time via Marc Carig of The Athletic, that he sees himself as a shortstop -- a position Didi Gregorius holds down in the Bronx.

• Another complication? Yankees GM Brian Cashman indicated to MLB Network insider Joel Sherman, writing in the New York Post, that he is focused on improving the club's areas of need. In other words, the rotation -- not necessarily third base, where rookie Miguel Andujar has played well.

Teams have been calling about Derek Dietrich, according to MLB Network insider Jon Heyman. The versatile Dietrich would be a good fit for Milwaukee as it looks to contend.

Sources: Dodgers have stepped up pursuit of a position player and are looking beyond Manny Machado. Have had conversations with Reds about Scooter Gennett, Twins about Brian Dozier and Mets about Asdrubal Cabrera. Dodgers’ versatility allows them to pursue a number of positions.

Red Sox, who have the pen as a priority, are scouting Zach Britton as well. while the o's have been reluctant to trade with the Yankees in the past, they did make a big deal with Boston a few years ago (Rodriguez for miller)

Hearing that #Brewers have discussed package that would send:

1. Corbin Burnes RHP
2. Keon Broxton CF
3. Orlando Arcia SS

to #Orioles for Manny Machado.

Not confirmed.

Honestly, I'm going to laugh so far when the O's don't deal Machado and Britton

i feel like people keep underestimating how likely that scenario is. its not more likely than a trade happening. but man, there are way too many cooks in that kitchen

If Baltimore wanted the type of prospects they keep asking for they should have dealt him in the winter or last year. By waiting they hurt themselves.

Yanks don't need Machado. If they give up anything meaningful for him, it will be a waste. They need a SP.

Machado will end up in Milwaukee, Arizona, or LAD. My guess is Arizona.

I feel bad for the Angels, yesterday was going to showcase Richards as a possible SP trade piece and he got hurt again.

Due diligence, the front offense should explore it.

While the Red Sox lack the prospects and young starting pitching that Baltimore desires, they could entice the O's with a deal centered around third baseman Rafael Devers or outfielder Andrew Benintendi. Devers, 21, is hitting .241 with 14 homers and 48 RBIs in his first full season. Benintendi, 24, is batting .298 with 14 homers and 57 RBIs after finishing second to Aaron Judge in last year's AL Rookie of the Year voting.

That's not happening.

They are just trying to drive up the price on NY.

Benintendi won’t happen for a rental. I could see Devers but even then I really wouldn’t like it. I think it’s more likely the Sox go after Britton but their farm system sucks so another team will easily outbid them.

Yanks, brewers need pitching, not a FA to be ss.
