Two National League teams, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers, are the most serious suitors for Machado, according to sources. A third, the Arizona Diamondbacks, remains in the mix.

Some or all of that group might want to delay trading Machado even if executive VP of baseball operations Dan Duquette recommends a deal. Similar considerations prompted Cincinnati Reds owner Bob Castellini to hold off moving right-hander Johnny Cueto and others in 2015, when the Reds hosted the All-Star Game.

Castellini apparently believed the start of a rebuild would cloud the All-Star festivities in Cincinnati, and the Orioles might view a trade of Machado so close to the game as similarly embarrassing. Their fans played a significant role in electing Machado, and his appearance in the game might provide a measure of solace in a dismal season; the Orioles’ 26-66 record is the worst in the majors.

Who gives a shite about it being around the All Star game. There is nothing about the start of the O's rebuild would cloud the ASG. As Orioles fan, I'm just ready to get this over with and laugh at how much Duquette fricks up this trade.

Brewers with the addition of Machado and having one of the best bullpens in baseball would be scary. If they could just get a little more production out of their starters.

Hopefully Friedman and Zaidi are too smart to overpay for a few months of Machado. I'd rather see the Dodgers focus on bullpen help, and secondly on a 2B like Brian Dozier or Scooter Gennett.

they could entice the O's with a deal centered around third baseman Rafael Devers or outfielder Andrew Benintendi.

The same guy who was a 20/20 player as a rookie and could legitimately be in the MVP race this year?

This is click-bait and BS. Benny is going to be in Boston for a long time

Milwaukee has engaged in trade talks with the Twins, with the focus being on infielders, MLB.com's Jon Paul Morosi reports. The main aims? Second baseman Brian Dozier and versatile veteran Eduardo Escobar, who has experience at second, short and third (his primary position this year).

Still, don't see them signing him, Dallas Kuechel or Corbin is more likely

That said, Gregorius will be 29 at the start of next season and has slumped badly (.234/.277/.346) since a blistering April. Might New York consider going after Machado, who is younger (just turned 26) and more productive with the bat, and possibly trading Gregorius this offseason?

any trade for machado that doesn't involve gregorious or andujar doesn't make very much sense, does it?

Andujar would go to Baltimore with Sheffield + others I assume, big price for a rental. Even if the rental is in the prime of his career

machado has only struck out 51 times in 91 games. he seems like exactly the player the yankees need considering how much they strike out as a team. would mix things up nicely

6:07pm: Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com reports that Sheffield is not in the Yankees’ current offer for Machado (Twitter link).

5:53pm: The Yankees have made a “strong” offer for Manny Machado to the Orioles, tweets Fancred’s Jon Heyman. While he notes that he’s yet to receive indication that the Yankees are the favorites to land Machado, they very much look to be a serious player in the vast field of teams vying to acquire his services.

I assume it include a pitcher

Andujar, Adams, Frazier, + other pitching prospects with upside I guess.

shite if they give up that much for him I would prefer they did it for DeGrom, Thor, or another starter

now THAT is too much for a rental. no way both andujar and frazier are included.

they gotta keep something to trade for a starting pitcher lol

That would be a great haul . German or Loiasiga instead of Adams may be more likely

I wouldn't make that deal if I was the Yankees. Unless the orioles let you talk to Machado and get an extension before the deal.

I dont think that would be enough for Syndergaard or degrom, let alone for the mets to trade them to y'all
