That's the problem with Tulo. He may have been the best player in baseball last year when healthy, but he only played 90ish games. Plus this has been his worst year at the plate in ages.
A lot of players that have played for Denver teams claim the high altitude inhibits recovery.
As for the "Coors Effect", stats back this up, opposing pitchers throw more fastballs in Coors than in any other park and breaking balls aren't as sharp. So when the Rockies go on the road they see more breaking pitches, with better break, than they do at home.

Crazy deal. Not sure there's a team out there that would take on Reyes's contract, but flipping him and making this a 4 or 5 for one would be ideal.
Even that notwithstanding. They're now on the hook for three fewer years years of big old money during what looks like a rebuilding phase.
Jays lineup is crazy

Reyes actually makes more money than Tulo this year and next

Right, but he can be off the books three years sooner and the Rockies figure to suck (less Nolan) during that time.
Suck and sell for two years, then buy in Winter 17 to solidify a team around NA. Might have something by then.

I would think the Rockies may have to eat some of Reyes salary to move him but I think they can if they do that

I wonder if the Yankees entertain the idea of Jose Reyes now that he is available.

That's such a bad contract.

At first I felt bad for Reyes but I bet he loves this move. He's never really been about winning and he thinks he's a power hitter. He might hit .225 in Denver but he'll put up 20+ HR's

why? The Yankees have a younger SS in a better contract... Reyes isn't exactly lightening it up offensively this year and Didi has come alive in July, he just started so poorly.

Putting Tulo on that artificial turf...that's a good idea, right?
Posted on 7/28/15 at 9:03 am to ShaneTheLegLechler
On this board we are talking about how much the Jays gave up, on other boards they are saying they didn't give up enough

A few weeks ago I saw writers basically saying the Rockies couldn't move him because of his deal. Taking on the relatively smaller money committed to Reyes in order to get a pretty decent prospect return is good when you consider that
Posted on 7/28/15 at 9:07 am to The Sad Banana
Yeah makes this odd, because Troy doesn't like playing on artificial turf
Posted on 7/28/15 at 9:08 am to ShaneTheLegLechler
All players are movable, teams just have to get creative. Remember when people said Carl Crawford wouldn't be moved because of his deal, of Mike Hampton, etc.

I agree, and that's obviously what was done here because this was kind of a weird deal with Reyes involved, but I think it was a good one overall for the Rockies. Usually I don't like much of anything that front office does

I am curious what they do with Reyes because I am seeing they plan on calling up their SS who is in AAA currently.
Reyes to the Nationals?

You see that somewhere? I would doubt it - last thing that Nats need is a big money MIF'er with 4 capable players now (Desmond is heating up!) and Turner on deck.
I do think the Nats get Chapman or Kimbrel and AJ Cole is the guy that will move. Would love to work a deal for Tyson Ross alongside Kimbrel - send Cole, throw in Difo and Lopez. All three are excellent prospects but pretty much blocked by Joe Ross, Turner and Giolito.

Don't remember the specifics, but he has a huge $$ kicker if he pitches the 9th inning x amount of time.

Noooooo. I hate that douche. I'm hoping this is an intentional leak to get CIN or SD to bite on whatever offer is on the table.
