[Rosenthal] If the Milwaukee Brewers are in position to land Tarik Skubal, money won’t be an obstacle. The Brewers, despite playing in Major League Baseball’s smallest media market, are willing to take on the remainder of Skubal’s salary, according to a person briefed on their discussions.

You see it every year. Teams overpay for below average veteran starting pitchers. Usually doesn’t provide much value other than a boost to morale by showing the team that “we’re trying to win now.”

[Passan] Multiple teams have engaged the Seattle Mariners on a potential trade for right-hander George Kirby and get the sense he is available and could be moved before the Aug. 3 deadline, sources tell ESPN. Mariners have been listening on starters Emerson Hancock and Luis Castillo, too.

Can’t be. That idiot Jerry told us Doval would be the centerpiece of a trade with the Padres for Mason Miller

[Sherman] The Orioles are at minimum listening on Adley Rutschmann, and with 3 AL East team interested in catching, Baltimore will not limit his market by only dealing outside the division.
