I know it sounds stupid but in that situation you have to have a mound meeting telling every infielder where they should be thinking they are going with a ground ball

Maybe the coach told him but it doesn’t seem likely

He f**ked up in the heat of the moment. I’m not excusing him, he will have to stand up and take his medicine and deal with this, but there’s nothing else that can be said except he f**ked up. And as long as these games are played by imperfect human beings, there will always be the risk of someone f**king up. Coaches can try to dot every I and cross every T but they can’t remove the risk of f**king up.

Anyone notice on the over throw the umpire didn't signal safe when he came home? Correct non call as he didn't touch home plate initially.

Not fielding the ball cleanly startled him. He almost certainly knew to throw the ball to 1st otherwise.

The more time you take though the more reason to go to first

There is no way to know but it looks like the second the ball was hit he wanted to go home

ETA: Nevermind. He looks turned to first and then completely chokes his testicles off and then changes to throw home

On the catcher some that he wasn’t over communicating in that scenario

Instead of keeping his head and throwing to first he saw the runner in front of him and lost his head and his team’s season.

And the Philly media and fanbase are going to completely eviscarate him.

Looking at some of the Phillies’ message boards, they’re really not giving the pitcher all that much grief other than saying he f**ked up. They’re ripping the manager and they’re especially ripping the offense especially Harper. Someone said Harper when interviewed after the game showed about as much emotion and care as if his steak at a restaurant was a little overcooked.

Check out my last post, the Phillie message boards at least aren’t trending that way right now.

Harper has a Dustin Johnson vibe about him at times.

That's good to know.

Doesn't mean the media up there won't be as forgiving. They make the New York media look soft in comparison.

And thats the reason why I hate all Philly sports teams. I don't actually mind the players. The fans just ruin it.

Yep, I believe that too. I feel everyone on the field would think the pitcher would know to go to first. IDK, I feel bad for the guy

Yeah I like Harper and Turner. They're both good dudes

Their fans and media(especially) can get fricked.
