Gotta get Sanchez’ pitch count up. He’s on four days of rest. They used a few pitchers last night too. I don’t want to go back to Philly.

So I can see this approach maybe making it easier to catch by the first baseman, though I don't necessarily see how it would as it could change the direction slightly on the bounce. Especially hard if it's a short hop. And unless physics are no longer a thing it slows down the ball so you may not get outs that you otherwise would've if you didn't skip it.
But yet pretty much everyone does it. Make it make sense.

Especially with the way Ohtani’s bat has disappeared. Betts is hot and seeing the ball well. Ohtani… not so much. I wish Freddie was up instead of Teo. Duran threw 4 balls and got the k. Freddie would’ve had more discipline. Sasaki is a monster in this role.
