Has it changed much at all from pre season expectations?

Nats and Mets aren't looking like contenders at all. Twins better than expected and Indians are worse.

Otherwise it looks about right.

AL
Astros
Yankees
Twins
Red sox
Rays

NL

Dodgers
Cubs/brewers
Phillies
Cubs/brewers
Padres/cards/braves

Anyone else getting in the mix?

I would be very suprised if it's not Astros vs Red Sox/Yankees in the Al and Dodgers Vs Cubs/Brewers in the NL. I believe any of the teams I listed can win it all and in the playoffs it's all about who is hot at that time.

DBacks are somehow staying relevant. Hopefully they can steal the wildcard.

How is Davey Martinez still employed

Nats should do the Yankees rebuild and sell Rendon, Doolittle and maaaaaaybe Scherzer. That's the top position/RP/SP on the market and they could contend next year by signing Cole in the offseason, now fully stocked.

If someone traded for Scherzer, I wonder if they'd try to restructure his contract. He's got $105m in deferred money that starts paying out $15/yr from 2022-2028. Even as good as he is, that would suck to continue paying a guy until he's 43.

I don't see anyone moving for him, but Rendon would be a blockbuster and Doolittle will be a hot name at the deadline if the Nats decide to cash in.

I’ve been wondering how this would work because they are deferring money directly from years he played for the Nats so I can’t see any team picking that money up. I would think the Nats would have to pay the commensurate amount of deferred money for the years he played there as a baseline to move him.

I wouldn’t count out the Indians in the AL Central, not that I think they’d be a threat if they did reach the postseason. Injuries are hurting them right now.

The Mariners could catch fire.

Those first 15 were amazing.

I was just searching for the "Milwaukee and then everyone else" thread but couldn't find it so I could bump it. No dice finding it.

Yup at this time last year, the Angels were 24-16 and the Dodgers were 16-24. The Angels finished the season below .500 while the Dodgers won the NL West and reached the World Series. Let's wait until at least mid-June before talking about potential playoff teams.

The Dodgers don't have the best record in the NL and the Central is going to get 3 teams in again.

I was talking about how cool it would be for the Cards to trade for Scherzer and bring him home to finish his career.

But yeah idk how the money side of things would work with what he has left but I'd sure as hell call and see at the deadline if Nats are well out of it.

Barring poor luck with injuries for LAD, unlikely the Cubs finish with a better record because their division is much more difficult.

I'm still sickened by the 1996 World Series loss by the Braves. They were up 2 games to 0, and had won them at New York. What happened to the Braves after those first 2 games ? (Sorry to hijack your thread.)
