I think Bumgarner is perfect for the Astros come trade deadline.

Hoping Giants keep their price too high, then settle come end of July.

Gives Astros a chance to see how he’s pitching, and shouldn’t cost as dearly as a playoff rental

What do you think a deal for Bumgarner looks like?

Probably similar to what we offered for Harper

What else was on the table for Harper besides Bukauskas? I can’t remember but probably not far off. They might get more than that.

Not sure why Ultimate Hog is shitting on what the DBacks got back but Kelly was a consensus top 100 prospect in baseball before last year and don’t think he’s worth destroying over 40 ML plate appearances. Weaver still has potential despite a down year last year and plenty of control. There’s value in the comp pick too.

I thought that was a pretty fair deal for both sides and not bad for Arizona if they’re trying to thread the needle competitively

I wish the STL went after Robertson or Herrera.

I mean pretty much everyone around the league agree'd the DBacks got a pretty poor return, it was widely assumed we'd have to give up one of our high end young arms (Hudson, Gomber, Helsley).

Kelly had a down 2018 and got passed by Knizner, Weaver was so bad he got moved to the bullpen where he still struggled so badly they completely shut him down.

Woodruff alone is better value.

We don't really need a righty. Get one of those at the deadline if need be.

That’s quite the take. Woodruff and Weaver’s numbers are very similar and very similar pitchers except Woodruff has pitched less in the majors

Today I learned Austin Gomber and Ryan Helsley are considered high end young arms

I also thought it would take at least one of those pitchers plus what they gave up to get a deal done.

Yeah, it was quite surprising really.

I don’t trust Gregerson or Leone. And someone will inevitably get hurt.

Indeed, GM Ultimate Hog would have traded Luke Weaver Carson Kelly Andy Young and a comp pick for Brandon Woodruff

You've still got Reyes, possibly Waino or Hudson, and Poncedeleon.

All depends on who wins that 5th spot this spring.

Everyone knew the Cardinals badly needed a power bat at a corner infield position. With Weaver’s trade value diminshed, Diamondbacks should have asked for Hudson to be included. I’m surprised another team couldn’t get a better deal to get the trade done.

According to Craig Mish of SiriusXM, the Braves and Marlins "have talked again" about a J.T. Realmuto trade.

Mish writes that the Braves "appear to be waiting [the] Marlins out" while adding that the Rays "remain possibility." He tweeted that while he considers the Braves the most likely landing spot, there is also known to be some level of interest from the Dodgers, Padres, Astros, and Reds. Realmuto seems certain to be dealt before spring training gets underway, but it's hard to identify a frontrunner for his services at this point. Miami still wants a massive return for the 27-year-old catcher, who batted .277/.340/.484 with 21 home runs and 74 RBI over 125 games last season. He is under contractual control through 2020.

Mish indicated the ask from ATL is now Riley, Anderson and a lesser major league or ML ready piece.

Everyone seems to agree Riley would be in this deal but my guess is Atlanta is not willing to include one of the front line pitchers.

Riley/Flowers/Wentz was rumored on an ATL site as the counter.

White Sox sign Jay to a one year deal. Who is a good friend of Machado. Mets bring Wright on as a special advisor.
