Rangers seem to be caught in between deciding to rebuild or throw money at one last run with the current group of players.

The White Sox will end up with veteran relievers Joakim Soria and Luis Avilan — the former from the Royals and the latter from the Dodgers — along with a still-unknown amount of cash.

I haven't really been on Twitter so when I saw the title of this thread, I got really excited over a possible archer trade

I thought that it was indeed happening for like 3 seconds. Instead, I've literally never heard of either piece the Dodgers are getting

The Giants and Pirates have had recent discussions about a trade involving Andrew McCutchen, though the two sides aren’t close to a deal, reports MLB.com’s Jon Morosi. The Pirates would want the Giants to include one of the organization’s best prospects — either Heliot Ramos, Chris Shaw or Tyler Beede — in any deal for McCutchen, and San Francisco brass is reluctant to part with additional top talent in an already-thin farm system after giving up Christian Arroyo in the Evan Longoria blockbuster.

I miss Rosenthal’s articles on Fox Sports page. Now I don’t even bother going there anymore.

No rebuild, at least yet.

We are, at least IMO, trying to do what NYY did two years ago. See if we are in the WC hunt and if not then trade Beltre, Hamels, Elvis and any other older guys who are serviceable.

This team has a slim chance to make the wild card if everything works out, it almost certainly won’t happen, but crazier things have happened.

I would say move him at the deadline if they aren't in it but right now is probably when his value is at it's highest

That would mean JD finally learned what a GM is supposed to do. I'll believe that when I see it.

I would have already started trading this off-season. You don't go from best AL record in 2016 to needing to beat Oakland the last two games to avoid dead last in your division in 2017, and somehow think the same group will magically get back to pennant contention in 2018.

You are talking about a team that was arguably the worst in the majors in 2014 that won back-to-back division titles in 15-16.

So not sure what point you are trying to make.

Maybe. There's some talented players still on the roster. But the AL West has also improved. Seattle just keeps trying, bless their little hearts. Angels have a seemingly decent team. Should be a more competitive division this year. The Astros won't be running away with the division again.

I'm really not sure what to think about the Angels. I mean they no pitching and they grabbed a few older players (Kinsler) and ones coming off a career year (Cozart)

ohtani and richards, depending on how healthy he is, could make an interesting top of the rotation
